Cheap set of BBS rk's were for sale locally. 17x8 et35. Need to modify the grease caps on the front before I run them. Came w/ nice 225/45/17 tires. I have a pair of 245/40/17s I can use in the future. Thinking about painting them blue. Car will be a few inches lower w/ the engine & trans in.

hey, just was thinking at carlisle i was talking to the older 1800 guys and they were saying that 225/55 r15 iirc are the biggest you can go with out rubbing? any issues on your car with that?

Well a lot depends on wheel size, offset, etc. I was told a while ago that 225's were the widest tire you can use on a 7" wide rim w/ 0 offset. My old wheels (15x6 et35) w/ 205/60/15 would rub in the front on the IPD swaybar. I'm sure I'll need spacers if i want to use these for agressive driving. In the rear I have adjustable torque rods andpanhard bar. So far it looks like I have plenty of room back there. In the future I'd like to fit a 245 wide tire under stock "looking" fenders. I think it's possible..

Which pan hard/ torque rods do you have? yeah they were saying with the stock sway bar, you don't have issues but the IPD one causes problems.

Kalphenke (sp?). Nice peices that should help out a lot. I was able to fit 16x8 et0 wheels in the front w/ 205's w/o rubbing. The same wheels stuck out too far in the rear. I think I'm going to have to widen the rear fenders (like I'm doing on my 242) to fit a proper deep dish wheel w/ wide tires.
John Parker advertises an adjustable front sway. I don't know how it's designed but, depending on how it bolts up it may allow for wider tires. ???

hmmm... I am looking in getting some custom wheels made for mine to fit nice. I bought some Geminis for it, but i was told that they will rub, unless i am running 195. With around 300 hp in the rear i kinda want a little more grip then 195 up front.
I am going to shoot John Parker an e-mail and ask him what he has to say regarding the swaybars, and how big tires he is running..
Reading back a few post you were saying that you wanted to fit 245's under stock looking fenders is that both front and rear?
I assume the adjustable panhard/ torque rods help alot with cramming a bigger tire in the back?

The adjustable panhard bar helps center the rearend when the car is lowered. Mine is about 1" lower than stock. The torque rods will help w/ the pinion angle. Turns out the combination of a t5 swap and supercharger kit requires this (to do it properly). Otherwise I'll have to cut a hole in the hood &/or use super short motor mounts. They will also help a great deal w/ helping launch the car of the line.
To fit 245s in the rear I plan on drilling out the spot welds along the fender lips, push out the fender, reweld and add material on the inside to fill in the gap. The idea is to keep the stock looking lines of the car and not add huge flares (IE bmw 2002). I've seen pics of 1800s w/ flares & don't really like them. I don't know if they would fit in the front without seriously modifying the fenders.
How big are the Geminis? My 16x7 et20 galaxy's fit fine w/ 205/55/15s.
All this is in the future though. The goal for this summer is to get the car runing... :)
