Ok, I think it's time to start planning this... I know there will be at least decent interest, probably get a few FWD guys as well.

We need to figure out a date. I've been thinking late January, early Februaryish. I'm going to the Gulf Coast for the Florida Sportsman fishing forum meet the weekend of the 16-17. After that, the coast is clear on my end. Would be best to meet up Friday so we could run at Bithlo.

I have two couches (though one is short and actually a love seat) in my apartment, as well as a lot of floor room and some misc. car parts that could double as pillows ;) (though actually I have a ton of huge pillows) I also have a balcony and kitchen if things get ugly.

Isaac probably has a lot more room. I don't want to offer up his stuff on his behalf though :) And our places aren't too far away that we couldn't sleep people at both, I think. And I'm sure Cliff and maybe one or two other locals wouldn't mind offering up some couch space :) We're all in pretty close proximity to each other.

We have Bithlo. www.speedworlddragway.com/
This is apx. 15-20 minutes away from my apartment, and probably slightly farther away from Isaac. I know test n' tunes are Wednesdays and Fridays, maybe we could try to make one of the Friday ones.

OCSO and UCFPD don't take kindly to any form of street racing (any form meaning revving or messing around at all), but I do know a pretty much abandoned road where I make my gtech runs that never gets bothered :) Josh (JPBTurbo) runs with the high rollers if I'm not mistaken, and also knows a few spots ;)

Spirits can be consumed at my apartment, or probably at Isaac's. I've got some crazy drink recipes, or we can swig from Swedish Vodka bottles as seems to be the trend on here...

Anyone have any other thoughts/comments/ideas on this? We really need to get a concrete date, and all the SE people who would be willing to make the drive, voice your thoughts on a date, because the locals will probably be much more flexible...

Let's get this thing going.

I may be able to request the 16th off, but i know i wont get the 17th off also, maybe i can hope i dont have to work to early in the morning so i can come out and go to the track with you guys. I'll keep ya informed.

(I live hour away from orlando so i will probably just head back home after everything friday night)

Sorry, I meant any weekeend but the 16-17... Gonna be in Naples then :)

I can see myself giving up the place for cavorting/party purposes perhaps, though I'd go on a limb and say Eric's place likely is more hospitable to that kind of environment. I've got a big backyard though. Bar-b-que anyone? Hell yeah!

If some of ya'll wanna sleep here, that's fine. I've got lots of couch space, and if you like sleeping on tile floors, I've got about 400 square feet of that stuff. Seein as, unlike the SE meets, I don't have to go anywhere, I'm willing to do this basically whenever, though preferably not the weekend of the 25th of jan or the 1st of feb, since I'd be working all day sunday.

PS: Eric, I'm at least 5 mins closer to the track than you. So smoke yo ass. I'd give it 15 mins from my house. It's just a straight shot down highway 50.

I'm ready for a whole weekend. Lets do this thing!

EricF
12-28-2003, 02:05 PM
Damn, I suck. Thought you was a little further.

So, sounds like we could hit up the track Friday maybe, BBQ Saturday aternoon, run the streets a little saturday night, then have some spirits and beers at my place, trade Volvo stories, and leave Sunday for sleeping in and the drive home.

Sound ok? Anything I'm forgetting?

Most def let me guys know when you figure out a date so i can tell homozone (autozone) that i want this day off, stupid 2 weeks notice crap

99.9% count me in. The ms. has a birthday early january so that want be in the way, but i know Engineer's Week up here is in Febuary like the week before the 21st or something like that I double check. Other than that hell yeah! Besides I haven't met anyone from Florida yet. And we need some unity if we're gonna beat out Oregon as "THE" Volvo state.

Feb seems a little bit more doable though, but almost any date is cool with me. I might have to bring my honda friend with me though. :e-shrug:

I'd like to make it to this but I'll have to see what my schedule is like when I get back in town.

Peace, Josh

EricF

Unfortunately I don't know my court dates for my stupidity yet, but the plus side is that I won't have to be there until a verdict is reached, and assuming there aren't any cute little loopholes to jump through with everything, that most likely will not be until after April or so. We shall see.

No changes to the plan though :)

I'll post over at VS and see if people there have a preference for dates. I really want this to happen, even if I just have an engine-less rusty 244 ex-turbo to show off.

How does the weekend of February 6-8 sound?

If this date is workable for everyone, I suggest we agree on it. This will give people time to plan.

Eh?

240Psycho

febuary 6-8 is good for me.

isaac
01-02-2004, 10:19 PM
Eric, you're an inspiration to us all sticking it out like this despite the **** that's goin down. That oughta show some of the lazy asses on here how you get it done.

Feb 6-8 is good for me.

linuxman51

I will look into my schedule and see, but with current school events being what they are, I can't promise anything (I really wanna tho, so we'll see what happens)

Those dates are excellent, I will definately be able to attend.

jpbturbo
01-04-2004, 02:42 PM
I graduate on the 6th of feb so that date is out for me.

I also have class on every day except sunday until I graduate

So don't worry about me being able to make it I guess since my schedule sucks so much.

I guess I'll try and show up whenever I'm not busy :e-shrug:

Peace, Josh

Ok, so far it looks like:

Me
Cliff
Eric F
Jordan
Mike
Coondog
Erik
Kevin (maybe)
Kenny (maybe)
Sam (maybe)

Decent, albeit far from enormous.
I will note for the record that SE1.0 had 8 TBrickers, and SE2.0 had 6, and the level of kick-assedness increased with attendance.

Based on those numbers, I'd say we're gonna have a good ol' time. Who's 21 anyway?

I am by quite a bit.

EricF

Also, possible/probable are:

Jesse (850 LPT with 15G turbo)
Joe (850 HPT, kinda quick ;) )
Svenson the Terrible (850 HPT also kinda quick)
A guy from Saabcentral who lives in Daytona with a C-900

Josh (jpbturbo) said he'll try to stop by a couple times (err, I told him he would).

Looks like it should be a pretty good turnout, especially if a lot of our maybes can make it. Either way, should be fun as hell :)

Edit: Jesse can definitely at least go to the track, anything beyond that might have to be sparked by a problem with his car that would make him have to stay longer ;)

I'm looking forward to him running against some of the RWD guys... Really want Kenny and Sam to make it so they can run against Jesse and Joe (14.5 on 13C turbo and 14.008 without nitrous (though his car isn't running too well at the moment), respectively) ;)

Oh let the speculating begin!

Damn, so many fast bricks gonna be there. I hope I can keep up. Also gotta put the whip back in decent shape. There's alot of girls in Orlando right!?! :badboy: We still shooting for Feb 6-8? Is it okay if I bring my friend. He drives a Honda but he's cool, not one of those idiots who we always see in civics. plus he's kinda wanted to see what really fast Volvos can do.

Starting to sound real good, guys. Starting to clean up the apartment, even! I'm going to start looking for additional things for us to do, if need be. What you say?

Think I might find lists of local car meets that we can terrorize late Friday night and Saturday night... Talk about terror when 10+ loud Volvos roll in....

EricF
01-20-2004, 10:26 PM
Alright, having talked to Isaac, here are some things that need to be considered for the meet, and what we need to know from the people planning on attending...

OK, this is our relatively kind of specific schedule as of now:

Friday - People start showing up at my apartment around 2 p.m. And we just hang out here and look at the cars and BS and whatever else we would do until around 5:30 when we leave to go to the track, hopefully having most of the people here by then.
We should be at the track probably until around 10:30... Afterwards, possible relaxed Volvo type party, drinking, carousing, whatever that entails. I'm working on the women part too... We have our best men on that one.

Saturday - Recover from Friday, on waking up around 12, probably head to Isaac's and the grocery store to get a barbeque going until dark (~6 p.m.), at this point we should have a major car problem to collectively solve (if not, video games or whatever else we have to play with), and can work on that until the ricer / dumbestics meets later, where we'll tear up some peoples' egos... After that another party, anyone? (assuming we have nothing happen Friday night to discourage us from doing so)

And we should allow Sunday for cleanup and travel time...

Now for the important part, after having read through that, who's planning on being here for the duration of the weekend, and also, who's coming and going, or stopping in for a couple portions, and which?

Basically, what can you be here for, of the things listed above.

I'll add more things later probably, as I'm sure Isaac will, but this is the pretty much complete guide to the weekend, well, as complete as anyone has right now.

Suggestions? Comments?

Cliff

If I don't get it fixed by then maybe yall can help me get rid of this boost creep. its driving me nuts.

Video Games? does this included Gran Turismo II, if so I'll pack my memory card first. Oh and I forgot to answer from previous post, I'm 21 but i'm a light weight when it come to drinking :e-shrug:

I spoke with Isaac, and I think at this point, we're going to close the roster to people who have already expressed interest in this thing... Don't want it to get too big at the last minute ;)

I think we've got a good group now, and if some maybes from before find a way to go, then that would be cool as well... If for whatever reason this is the first you're reading of the meet, feel free to PM me and we'll talk about additional people coming.

Directions man? dont forget about us

EricF
02-05-2004, 12:44 AM
The Orlando Volvo Council (Cliff, Isaac, Josh and I) convened tonight.

Some key issues:

Cost.

Aside from gas costs, there will be a few other costs incurred this weekend.... It's $10 to watch at the track, and $5 extra to run. Also, it's going to cost money for beer and spirits, and we'll need some money for barbeque expendables (food). So plan accordingly, it wouldn't be a great situation for someone to go broke and have to mooch off everyone else, and we don't want anyone to have to not participate or not eat/drink because of costs. There will probably be some other random costs, there was some talk of maybe going to the Ale House or somewhere for dinner Friday night. We'll see.

Video.

Bring video cameras if you have them, still digital cameras too for that matter. I have a still digital camera, and I think Isaac does as well, but it would be very nice to get some videos and more pics.

For directions, call or PM me... We decided it wouldn't be a wonderful idea to post the directions on a public forum.

So that basically covers it, the timelines we outlined before are pretty much what we're sticking to.

Ahhh hell. what did I miss Sunday night? I wish i didn't have school early Monday morning otherwise I would have stayed. Well whatever it was Sunday night, It's gonna be kinda hard to top Isaac, Josh, and myself ridin down S.R. 50 Sat nite.(Isaac and me w/open downpipe  )

Hey Isaac that guy in the Camero probably shyt on himself when we flew by him like that.

Highlights: the Meet because I'd never met any other Volvo guys before
: Jesse's pimped out 854ti (damn thing is quick)
: the front end of Eric's 244t, because ofcourse everyone has a S(60/80) front bumper on their 2-series
: Isaac bustin down that 14.9 pass at the track (yeah mofugas!)
: Myself finally reaching a respectable timeslip.
: Celebrating the Meet at Eric's crib Saturday nite. (although I can remember much of it)
: Going out to the racers hang out
: LOL, going to see the "Fuel Sluts"
: Romping around town with an open downpipe. (catch up Josh)
: Drinking again Sat. nite. (was I really giving Choreography lessons)
tons more that I know Im leaving out, the list goes on and on.

Anyways, guys I had a freaking blast this weekend. Most fun I've had in a while. And yes Kyle we will have to do this again. and see if we can get some of the no shows (no offense) to come out.

Eric, Isaac, Cliff, Jesse, Josh, Brendan, Kyle 1, Kyle 2, Cody, Peter(the Saturn guy right?), man thank you for making to the meet. My gf is tired of me talking about it already. Just let me know when the net one is and you know I'll be down for that biaatch!! and everyone just remember "when it happens...it is foking sweet!!!"

We should have taken video (Saturday night) of Isaac passing us and flames were comming out of his open down pipe as he was backfiring.

Josh said that it felt like something hit his windshield when Mike's car backfired behind him.
