Do you guys want to ditch the required activation via email step?

ya. less steps the better. Email verification is pretty redundant when you can see ips right?

yeah i guess... i put it on to keep spammers or trolls out, but i guess since you can post as a "guest" it really isnt doing anything

To keep them from posting or from harvesting email addresses? Can an unregistered user see the email address in the profile? I could just logout and try it, but I'm too tired. :P

yes they can if the user has "show email address" checked

I've removed the email activation for the following reasons:
1. Its purpose is not effective because we like to keep the board open to "guests"
2. Over the last 2 months i've had to hand hold about 50+ members in activating due to many different reasons causing their email activation not working for them
3. It should hopefully get more "guests" to register (as a registered user you can enable more security features and cool stuff)
4. Garrett and I dont spam you folks via email anyway, so i could care less if you're email address listed is acurate
