Yeah.. it's nice to grab a wire, look at the side and know where it started and ends.

*resurection!
I wanted to install a painless kit because I really hate the stock wiring but my volvo is my daily driver. Is this something you were able to do in a weekend? Was there any trouble wiring the stock gauges? Oh, I will be running MsNs-e if it matters(should be here today! Yippie!)

it might be a weekend exercise if thats all you do for the whole weekend. doing things nicely takes quite a while.

If I were you.. I'd wire my Megasquirt and all of it's accessories directly off a fuse block from Napa etc.. And make sure you use the correct sized fuses. Just leave the factory harness intact for now. The justification behind me rewiring my car was it sat for a few months and the mice chewed through a good deal of the harness. Not to mention the problems that you'd normally have with an 18 year old car's body harness. I do notice that all of my lights are super bright which I like, it shows me how much resistance there was in my old harness.
I had my car completely apart for months with no engine or interior.. and it still took me forever to finish it. Pinning out the pigtails on the back of the cluster was probably the most frustrating part. I eventually figured out that working on my car late at night with no disruptions is the best way to rewire it. If I had to do it again I woudln't even try to rush it.
It's one of those deals where it's as simple as it looks, but it's real easy to make it seem alot more complicated inside your head.

Thank you. That's what I had in the back of my mind, I think I just was being optimistic.
The idea of clean new wiring just sounds sooo nice. I'll see what I can come up with, there are many other things I should be focusing my energy on currently. Thanks again for the advise!
