This sounds a little wierd but here is the plan:

Place is Webster MA.
Date is tenative for this Sunday the 12th. - Truck and trailer has been rented for Sunday the 19th at 10am.
Time is from early in the morning till we can't stand it anymore.

We have a 242, a 245, a 262 and a 940 that are being picked up and towed by us to my house. We are renting a truck and trailer, picking them up from around Worcester and then we are stripping them and having the shells hauled away to the junk yard.

Somewhere in there we will be doing a BBQ. Probibly going swiming, drinking a lot, etc.

We are going to try and fix the 245 and get it running for resale. If it's something major we are going to strip it and junk it.
The 242 is for sale on TB by Ursan. Since no one is biting it's going to get stripped and junked.
The 262 is beyond repair, but it has many good parts that we need and others are going to be stripped for resale.
The 940 is Metalgodz's crashed car. They need to salvage the good parts off it before having it towed to the junk yard.

Anyone who wants to come and help, have some bbq, drink, strip parts off the cars for themselves, hang out, point and laugh, supply bandages, etc, is more than welcome to come!
Anyone who has a car trailer or truck that they are willing to donate time with, PLEASE speak up! rental costs aren't that high but it is a pain to do.

It would be fun to get as many people involved as possible and time how long it takes to strip a volvo completely. Just for lame stastical fun.

I would prefer to do it on a Saturday so we have a day to clean up and recover, and people could get totally trashed and stay over saturday night, etc.
But this saturday the 11th and next the 18th are booked for us.

Can you tell Ursan to reply to his PM's and thread posts?

Can you tell Ursan to reply to his PM's and thread posts?

I will when he replies to mine. :-P

Seriously, anyone who shows up would be greatly appreciated.

Vicki and I have 5 cars right now, and none of them are in any kind of good shape. The wagon got stripped of 4 good hydras and 4 new tires and dropped onto the dirt and a couple of milkcrates while we were in Canadia, and although I've got wheels on it again, I've still got major work needed (head, struts, exhaust) before it can be safe & reliable again.

The 760 is illegal to drive right now (no cat), the '79 has a major exhaust leak, the SE has major rear-end issues, a bad turbo, broken seats, and just in general kind of sucks.

Getting the wrecked '93 gone would be a very good thing, and I definitely have some parts (M46, M47, 2 engines, 2 rear ends, lots more) that I would sell.

Bill, if you want to help us strip the '93 on Saturday, we can be of more help on Sunday in terms of stripping other cars.

Where exactly in Webster, MA are you guys? What parts are good on the 242 and 262? Sounds like fun either way!

Date change update:

Bill scheduled a truck and trailer for Sunday the 19th at 10am pickup in worcester.
that should give us plenty of time to tow 3 cars down and start stripping.

I don't know why bill isn't answering pms. I'll ask him.

parts good on the 262. nothing from the body. litterally nothing.
we are stripping the interior. some suspension parts and anyone can grab whatever off the engine they want. it is an automatic. sorry no 5 speed tranny.

the 242. check ursan's post about it. It's got solid doors, tail lights etc. Most of the interior is out of it anyway. so there won't be much to strip. it's 78 or 79 so no turbo.

Bill is working this saturday and next. We're busy next Saturday. That's why we were doing a Sunday.

I'm glad this weekend got scrapped for next, becuase I think the weather is going to be rainy all weekend and I was hoping to maybe have a bit of sunshine for one of the days at Icons.

But yea. If we can get some help on saturday or sunday this weekend, and maybe a little help next saturday for you, Than we can get more done total.

We have some work to do on our 242 and you have tons of work to do on your cars, in addition to stripping.
I'm hoping that at some point before the 18th we can take a look at the 245 and see if we can get the thing running. It would make life much easier and I won't bother towing it.

In reguards to people coming out to help this weekend or next saturday.

We have more than enough room for some people to stay over on saturday (or sunday) either weekend.

If you do get it running, is it register-able? Vicki and I have been debating paying you for it and dumping the 745.

We'll see...

yes. I have the title and regestration. i dont see why it's not regesterable.
I honestly have no idea what it wrong with it. it looks pretty clean under the hood. a few new things like coil. etc. it's probibly something stupid wrong with it that only volvo people would figure out. it's a 90 or 92.

the title is marked with an odometer discrepancy but that should make no difference to you.

I paid a lot less for it than I was quoted. But I could still use the money from a resale.
I didn't expect to get much more than 500$ for it.

I now have to fix the fragging ebrake on the 740 we sold. These people are what nightmares are made of.
I should have taken the car back and sold it to the next person on the list who wanted it. Not still be dealing with it 6 months later. It never was able to pass inspection from when we sold it. They just forgot to tell us about the ebrake when we went up to finally swap the headlights out.
But really we went above and beyond. If we didn't sort of "gaurentee" that it would pass inspection for them. I would have never done the headlight swap. Especially since they KNEW it had a crack in it before they bought it.

I think the wank off at the inspection station broke the ebrake cable by yanking it up way to fast and hard after the car had been sitting. but there is no way to prove he broke it.
the bad part it is it the drivers side cable. you know. the one that runs all the way from the ebrake handle to the wheel? the bitach to replace one?

Where did the 940 come in?

Remember I still have a staircase to move for someone too. Also, it's not the 12th. It's next Sunday the 19th.

My plan was to pick up the vehicles farthest away while some volunteers start hauling the parts out of my mothers basement/garage.

In the meanwhile, I'll (along with 1 or 2 strapping people) go get the other cars & dump them at Kitty's.

Sorry, I didn't realize how giant this whole thing had become, and what else you had to do.

I'm going to be parting the 940 this weekend, regardless...it's the blue sedan under the cover that was totalled.

I'll try to be around to help on the other weekends.

Yes, it's me selling myself out for computer work on the side. I need to learn to say no.

bump reminder.

Metagodz got a lot of stripping done on the 940 this weekend. Greg came down to help out and take some seats.

Sunday is still on. for whomever wants to come out.

How many people are confirmed?

I am picking up the truck & trailer at 11:00am. Can someone who knows where the first car to be picked up meet me at my house around 10:00am? (roversweed et-al?) We can go to the uhaul around 10:30 then go to get the first car in (marlborough?) then drop it off in webster. From there if people who are helping can follow us to my car & parts load that stuff then back to webster & drop that. then pick up the final car in webster so I can get the truck & trailer back to Uhaul so I can get back to webster to help with the rest of the fun.

In theory my car & parts shouldn't take more an an hour or two.

If anyone reads this PLEASE chime in so I know who is there & if anyone has suggestions I'd like to hear it sooner than Sunday @ 10:58am.

I really need to know what happens this Sunday. If you're showing up to help with the move, I need to know how many and who so I can let people where to go.

Roversweed: I posted my thoughts previously, can you let me know if they work for you? I'm going to get a ride to the U-haul place unless you show up at my place & we can ride together to pick up the truck&trailer & get yer car.

Is there anything I'm forgetting?

awe. no annual?
man my back STILL hurts.

we actually need to do much more stripping.
There is still the matter of the 262 that didnt make it into the days plan for lack of time.

Anyone want to come down this weekend to help strip cars or work on cars? we got lots of that to do still.

:)
