When shall we have it, Friday or Saturday? It's getting cool at night for the most part, so we should be able to lay down some nice numbers... :)

Let me know early if you're going. I'm meeting up with a couple of friends from the PDX area to convoy down Friday morning (Sept. 14). PM me...

Also, for some reason this is the LAST WEEKEND OF NHRA LATE NIGHT DRAGS!!! Assuming everything goes to plan. PIR is supposed to be closed after that for RESURFACING?!!?
THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE!
Maybe going both nights isn't such a bad idea after all(suggested by Matt on OVT). I'm in! I'll have to bring the bike one night as well. We'll see how it'll work out.
The only other night before that for late night drags is Sept. 1st. Which turns out to be my birthday. And I don't really plan on being able to drive that night, nor necessarily even in Portland. We'll see.

I don't think I'll be able to run, but I'll definitely be there to watch (if it's the 14th or 15th). I'll be out of town this weekend, so the 1st won't work for me.

Hmm... Seems like I might have to ask for the 14th-17th off from work... Unless I work a morning shift.

yeah, I am racing that weekend, should I bring out the racecar :)

08-30-2007, 11:25 AM
Yes. :) Are you really going to be racing that weekend?! It's far enough along?! Need any help making SURE it gets to the track that weekend? SWEEET!
We really need TURBO cars at the track though. :( Everybody bug Shane to get out there and blow his m46 and center bearing and driveshaft up!!! Maybe he'll get lucky and not blow it up. He should be able to at least make ONE pass.

I know NA doesn't put up much points, but I could probably get one of mine out there. If I have the cash at the time that is. :)

Shut up, get your green beast out there. You have the cash at the time if you put it aside right now and hide it under your mattress. :-P

I'll try to make it for the 15th but I won't be running unless I some how get another tranny in and a bunch of other stuff bolted on before then.
Thanks
Renny
Nick needs to get his V ride out there before the end of the season. Does the other track to the south stay open longer?

(get a transmission in, but before you install it do that accumulator mod or whatever it is, shimming the springs... :))
And yeah, I'm pretty sure Woodburn's strip is open at least a month or two later. We may indeed have to make a trip down there later this year.

I can't make it tonight. Just had the driver's seat on the R repaired (leather repair and recondition). Cost me $125, but it looks brand spankin' new. Wish I had taken a "before" pic... but I'll post an "after" pic sometime this weekend.

If things go my way, I'll be running the wagon.... Which after the work done to it, just might beat out the 242.

Oooh? You giving them money to get it done?! Sweet! I saw it at Voltech the other day... Begging to be finished up!

BUMP!!!!!!!! Where's the OVT crew at?
I think we're planning on having our main event Friday night, but I'm also planning on going Saturday night. If I'm happy with what the car does on Friday, I'll be riding the bike Saturday.

I'll bring out my volvo cooled Starion. Its Turbo! just not a volvo.
My wagon started making horrible vibrations this weekend coming back from the beach. :-\
Most likely doing this Friday night.

Cool, it'd be nice to get some more Turbo times, but I don't think the Starion'll cut it... :) Where'd your GT disappear to anyway?

I guess I could run my stock bronco...?

09-12-2007, 09:35 PM
You could... Will you? :)
Someone needs to call IPD and let them know it's going down. I'll probably do that tomorrow on my lunch. Friday's when most people are showing up, and it'll probably be less busy because everyone'll have saturday as the last day.

Kyle, the GT does need my attention. I have just about everything I need to fix it. I just need to finish up my friend's projects, and then work on mine. GT needs Transmission replaced, oil pump seals and fix the pilot bearing.

Emailed Woodburn today and he came back with this.
Our last day will be Sunday October 14th.
Gates will open at 8am with racing at 9am
Thanks,

Woodburn Dragstrip
I'm shooting to come by Saturday just to say hi but my car is in no shape to run. Also looks like it might be raining Friday and Saturday. Typical for a planned drag day.

I don't see any rain on the forecast, but who knows what could happen. I do know that the temps will probably be between 60 and 70 while we're there though, and the fastest runs of the night will be when I'm out of gas and it's 60 degrees at 11:50PM... Can't wait! If my car is nuts today, it may break into the 16s. But I'll say I'll just get a new best of 17.5 at 76 or 77mph to be safe. Nah, F that, it'll be 17.3 at 78mph. Haha, can't waaaaaaiiiiiiitttt!!!
I'm headed over there RIGHT after work. No food required. I get off at 6, and will have to fight through traffic to get up there. If I'm early, I'll go grab a bite.
Call me if you're up there around then!

The drag strip manager at woodburn sent me this:
Our last day will be Sunday October 14th.
Gates will open at 8am with racing at 9am
So we could do a day at the races - maybe even a bbq if that allow that sort of thing in the parking lot.
Thanks

any guesses for my wagon kyle?
Jonathan
Tools not in the trunk, no spare, B cam, otherwise stock 5spd, uhm, 18.0-18.5. Unless your car is cool, or tired, or whatever. Could be as bad as a 19, or as good as a high 17 depending on how well you can get it to launch.
If I decide to poke my head in there... what/who should I be looking for? I haven't met ANYONE from the forums yet :omg:
Volvos, with people in and next to them... :-P Did you make it out?

Also anyone up for a last track day of the year at woodburn?
Yes, and from OVT:
Sean(dirt-dogg), Matt(poisunes), Evan(sevensixtyturbo), and I were the only ones there, for the most part. Jonathan showed up, but in shorts and sandals... Rolling Eyes Razz Then there was one other guy from the Albany area that I don't know in a nice looking first gen V70xc that didn't go too fast, the only run I know of was an 18 flat.
Sean's GT got faster as the night went on, finishing with an 18.6 something at 71ish mph, my car only got down to a 17.6 at 77mph. Sean and I drove each others cars for two runs, and it was a busy night with cars blowing up on the track, so I didn't get in nearly as many runs as I needed to to get my car down into a 17.4 range or faster. Trap speed was highest ever, 60ft was a tenth or so off of my best ever which I got last time I was at the drags, and the car is stronger by a decent chunk than it's ever been on the street, so I know it's faster than 17.6.
Matt shaved 4 tenths off of his previous best culminating in a 15.5 at xxmph, and Evan managed a 15.1 last I heard.
Jonathan was considering racing on saturday night, but he didn't for whatever reason. The guy with the V70XC came back out with his 740T that he wanted to get some baseline runs in with, but he got to the track too late to do any racing(tech was closed iirc). That night I raced my motorcycle, and was fighting to get into the 14s from my 15.3 first run, but only whittled it down to a 15.18@84.3mph(flat shifting) by the end of the night. I might be able to get down to 15.0, but the longer gearing I put on it was hurting me on the launch.
