I plan on building my own wokshop down the garden to accomodate my Volvo tuning plans, also once i get it built it means i can stop renting a shack that a currently store them in, therefore relinqish monthly cash for the fleet!
The plan would be say come over friday night, grab a takeaway, drink and generally talk crap(subjects undetermined)! Some people could arrive Saturday if they wish, do some work and perhaps Mark you could bring the Turbobricks BBQ? and we can continue the drinkng accompanied by food, then Sunday contnue work?
As a thanks for the week end of help, I will provide the food a beer! also there are places to kip down too!
basically it's just a grass garden atm so the main aim would be to dig it all out ready to accept 2/3 tonnes of Readymix! as the base.
under normal circumstances i would do it periodically over weeks but as i work an ungodly amount of hours and winter will be setting in, i need to get the base down before the end of october so i'm thinking maybe the weekend of 13/14th October.
this invite is out to everyone and i would much appreciate it, also the more there the less work everyone has to do! and the more drinkig that can be done!
If you can make it, please post so i can arrange the time off and get everything planned!
Again i'd much appreciate it!
Regards,
Fordy

I plan on building my own wokshop
So it's Chinese food you'll be serving........?
Unlikely for me, I'm afraid. I'm working and don't think I've got enough leave left to cover it.

Hire a Mini Digger and i'll drive it, If its a spade operation, then count me out, Have done plenty enough garage bases now to not bother spading it.
How are you removing the several tons of soil???
What size do you wish you base to be, are you inteding to put a proper ramp in there at some point??

plan is 2.5 cars long, 1.5 wide and to continue down from the existing drive, eventual plan is to have a ramp in, i'll post a pic and some rough plans soon!
if i can get a miny digger i will, but don't hold your breath

A digger would be a good idea, not more than around £100 for a days hire, it would be well worth the money, that is if you need to move a lot of crap of course.

Ok, well then a mini digger is a must for the size you want.
I do have a mini digger at my disposal, but currently no trailer strong enough to hold it or anything large enough to tow it up there, allthough besides as Mike said hiring them is a lot easier, before i had access to one i paid £125 for two days hire when i dug the pond out.
Plenty of peeps with wheel barrows are good to keep up with a man operating the mini digger, they can then wheel the dirt off to the Roll on Roll of skip or whatever means you are using to get rid of the earth.
What will be the main construction material of the workshop???
Brick or Wood???
As this will also determing if wall foundations will need to be dug at the same time.

i'm going to research diggers asap! and skips
there will be a 4/5 brick high and then timber for the rest, wood = temporary structure = no planning permission:-D currently onl;y have on wheel barrow but will see if i can scrounge anymore.
