Yes, 'tis I, the chapped wang once again.
Sorry to disappoint you, folks, but I'm here to talk about a different type of knob. I hate the flying m46 knob and wonder if a M45 knob will fit so I can install a button for the OD (possibly either use a wiper stalk from a 245 or a button on the center console).
I considered a Gill Racing knob; alas too blingy for me taste.
If anyone has a good M45 knob I'm game to make a deal. Polishing not needed.
Thanks,
Bryant

That's not an M45 knob. M40 or M41 I'm guessing?
I have an M45 knob on my M47. It's similar to the shape of the M46/47 knob, but more donut shaped and less of a sphere. It's hard plastic and that's what I really liked about it. It fit on the shifter with no modification at all, and it stays on. I probably won't remember to take a picture, but I'll try.

Yeah, that's a M40 or M41 knob. A 140 series would have that and overdrive is a lever on the right side of the column. So that knob was used with both setups. The M45 knob is more round and isn't quite as tall. Both types are nice and don't fall off. Early M46 knobs used a slider switch and they don't fall off either.

VLVworld.com offers replacement m46/7 knobs, they are smaller and harder than the stock M47 knob, and fit fine on ym m47, the require a faceplate tho. I like Delfosse's but i need a R-1-2-3-4-5 Knob, any suggextions?
