You can wax it all you want, the paint just comes off. Its the price we pay for rustless cars in the southwest- cooked paint. Thanks for the chop!

I think you can still sorta rescue it. The orange car looked very similar before the PO went to town on making the whole thing nice again. I still get orange all over the towels/pads I use when I polish/wax it, don't be scurred!

Thing is, on the roof, it has eroded down to the primer :-(

Heh! I'm doing the same thing on my '71 164, red with a black trunk insert. I have been kicking around the idea since falling in love with the look on early 60's Alpha Giullieta coupes.
