Just finished the final re-assemble after paint. I had Earl Schieb do the car. Went from Silver to Black If it could come off it did minus the lower body mldgs. I had the jams, hood and trunk painted as well along with a mean dent fixed and I dyed all the mldgs that went back on. I'm happy. It's going in for a retint of the windows next week and I am going to repaint the wheels this winter. The Charchol Grey looked good with silver but not so well with black.

can you take any closeup pictures of the body panels? it looks pretty good, almost too good ;-) how much did that end up running you? are there any imperfections/drips/overspray?

Breakdown.....Paint 6yr war...............$460
extra sanding...............$135
body wrk dents............$150
door jams ...................$200
under hood and trunk....$150

Total w/tax $1150

There was some minor overspray on the trunk but it will buff out in a couple of weeks all else was fine. I wasnt going for a show car just a nice repaint.

anywayyss... AWESOME paint..from the pictures.... i did my paintj ob in my garage for $265 bucks.. and it turned out like poopie ( better than before though)

Looks awesome, do You have some sort of different air dam?? or is it 740 splitters, either way It looks good i want to know what it is.

edit: im stupid its just the normal air dam with a reflection on it

Where do you live?
Might need them to paint my car for that price. Can't find a decent shop around here. They all want $3500 (!!!)

Yes. IIRC, Earl was in business first.

Damned fine paint job for $1100! Single stage or Clear Coat?

Sinister!

Way back in the 80's I had my old 122 painted silver at E. Scheib, then I flat blacked all the trim, the grille, and the sills. It looked P.I.M.P. Then after a year or two the silver darkened and it looked gray. Ah well.

Wow, that looks great! It looks nothing like the Earl Sheib paintjob that I got on my 242. They screwed up & I had them repaint my car 3 times. It never looked that good.

You spent too much. I painted my '68 144 with 16 cans of rustoleum almond, a perfect match for the Volvo beige. At $3.49/can, that came to about $99 bucks incl the primer, paper, filler, etc. I did it in my driveway, and it actually came out looking great and held up for 10 yrs no flaking or peeling.

Only problem was after I painted it, hurricane Gloria came rumbling through and put some pock marks in the less than 3 day old paint. It still looked OK.

Nice paint job from the Earl, though.

An Air Force guy transfering form Europe to Albuquerque gave it to me. I work at a dealer and we get a few every year
