I'm running my coil and resistor from my '79 242 B21F ignition setup. I upgraded to have MSnS-E run my spark, but kept using the old coil/resistor. The car runs great!

I'm currently running:

-'65 Volvo 122 with a B21F/M41 (stocked, not modified normally aspirated engine [4-cyl 2100cc])
-LC-1 WBO2
-MS V2.2 running MSnS-extra (29v) (running electric fan control)- tuning with MT2.25
-Bosch 004 Dizzy/Bosch 139 mod
-Bosch 21lbs EFI injectors
-Volvo 850 Bosch TPS
-Closed idle control with Bosch 516 motor

I'm thinking this is the wrong coil for my "new" ignition setup. Am I right? Should I be using one from a LH2.2 setup or something better? What are the benefits to different coils?

Do I need to keep using a resistor? Power to the coil is coming from the Bosch 139 Mod (pin #5).

the coil should be okay i'd think, I have a 2.2 coil if you'd like to try. Free+shipping.

The coil is just being tripped by a different source, the same thing is happening.

the original coil on my lh2.2 240 died a few years after being megasquirted... I grabbed the coiloff my 242 turbo (kjet) and it works fine.

From this and other discussions, seems that the stock Bosch coils are about as good as they get. I guess I'll just stick with the '79 (28 year old) coil. I'll run it without the resistor, and see if the coil overheats.

Shouldn't screw up anything else running it without the resistor?
