View Full Version : Fog Lights?

I've got the switch, wiring, and brackets already, but the PO didnt supply fogs with my 245.

Question is, where can I get just the lights for a decent price, they don't need to be any particular brand I hope, I don't fear Chinese lead.

Also, what color is best? I like how yellow looks, but bluish or white might give better visibility. (and no, I'm not one of those smacktards that would use them in the non-fog...it gets foggy here)

I like the OEM ones with white bulbs. I think you can still get them at a dealer if you're made of $. Try putting it in the wanted thread, I'm sure someone on here has some laying around.

get clear, then some ring 100W all-weather (yellowish bulbs), pure white or blue will suck in fog

How did you get the picture to come out like that?

ravennexus: square or rounded? Brand preference? Where to buy?

VolvoPunch: HDR, basically bracketed the shot using a tripod, then combined them in Photomatix. (http://www.hdrsoft.com/download.html) How to. (http://bsphotographs.com/hdr.htm) (GIMP to tweak levels, internetize license plate, and crop)

Another HDR program is Dynamic Photo HDR (http://www.mediachance.com/hdri/index.html)

Most 240's with front fogs use Bosch Pilot series fogs with a Volvo-specific bracket (which it seems you already have. A set of new or lightly used Bosch Pilots should be very easy to find these days for well under $50. They are a good quality fog that looks appropriate on 240's and they are very common, so spare lenses are easy to find. Plastic covers for them are also fairly common to save those lenses when you don't need them.

But you can use whatever you want really. I'm using a set of ZKW Ultra-compact fogs that I am happy with.

Most 240's with front fogs use Bosch Pilot series fogs

They were also sold under the Bosch Compass name with a super-cheap bracket.

fcpgroton sells the Bosch ones for $38 per side. Lenses only are cheaper ($17 per side) if you find housings with cracked glass or something. Check rallylights.com for decent bulbs.

No matter what you get, I'd stay away from colors other than white or selective yellow and shapes other than rectangular. Everything else looks like butt on 240s imo (with a few large round over-bumper exceptions).

what ever shape you want, i've had small oblong ones in the past that i tucked in back under the bumper behind the liecense plate, the bulbs were important.

The ones I have on my car look pretty good and light very well!

Digital RAW. Yeah you were way off. Settings and technique details can be found on flickr for most individual images of mine.

I've seen rectangular fogs locally for like $40 for a pair. I don't care enough to pay through the nose for Bosch. ($50 to $80 is too much for me)

If you want some cheap fog lights. Look up the Hella Optilux line.

I'm using Catz MSX on my turbo. They are very low profile and work great. Not in your specified price range though.

Get a set of pilot 150's.

I might have some if I can get mark to give them back...

these arent fog lights, and they're out of your price-range, but im gonna post for the fact that they work great, and i like how they mounted (removeable completely, with self-made brackets, and wiring harness).
the brackets, i found out that there are possibly OEM brackets that are like these.

harbor freight has some CHEAP driving/fog lights. i think in the range of 20 bucks for the rectangle ones. buy those, get some "upgraded" bulbs, a relay/wiring harness, and bam, you're done.
