View Full Version : T04E vs T04B 50 trim differences

Compressor sides only, I have been told they both use the same 50 trim wheel, the only difference being the E housing has a little larger A/R, with really no difference in HP flow as the 50 trim wheel is rated at 460 HP & the T04B housing is rated over 550HP. In a nutshell is it worth the $100 price difference to get a new T04E cold side vs a used T04B?

theres a lot more to it than dollars and hp ratings. You need to compare the volumetric effeciency of the motor (head & manifolds specifically) to the correct compressor map. Then you need to make sure the power band range of the turbine matches up so you know if you'll even be able to spool it.

this isnt a bad read to get an idea of where you want to be:

no such thing as a 50trim t04b, bboth prob 50ar, so you need the wheel diameters

a t04e has a larger exducer so they a better suited to lower flowing heads, but the t04b will get it done

50trim t04e is a nice wheel, but it could be anything

So the T04E 50 trim wheel will fit in the T04B housing without modification then?

no, it would fit in a t04S housing, cause they both have 76mm exducers(3"), but things can be made to fit in just about anything

get the wheel diameters and we can see whats up

I finally got to the bottom of this, what he has is an aftermarket Bullseye Power T04B housing custom made to fit the T04E wheel due to space constrictions on the DSMs

Yeah, everybody knows that!

Used T04B cold sides go for $175-ish. I just paid $270 for a new T04E 50 trim cold side.after searching for a used one without success.

No, this is the bullseye power T04E 50 trim. There is a Turbo shop right here in Fairfax. I was finally able to get ahold of the guy & he delivered it about an hour ago:nod:
He said he could machine earth mover cold side to fit a 60-1 wheel that would flow enough for 600 hp:omg:

60-1's compressor map is crappy though, don't bother
