Allrighty gents, I recently purchased what was supposed to be a 90-92 Eggcrate grille off of ebay. Naturally, it turns out it is the '90 grille, which only will fit a '90. As I have a '91 w/o fog lights, it clearly won't work. However, were there ever any cars with the no-fog front end from 90+ that actually came with an eggcrate grille? From the searches I have done, it seems like only the 940 turbos had them, and they had the foglight fronts. If it's unavailable, then I'm just gonna attack the 90 grille with a dremel and some zip ties :x: If anyone has any further info, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks!

Is it too wide, too tall, or both? I've got an extra 740 Turbo grille (yes, obviously won't fit), but I can likely sell it for less than what you could get for the rare '90 grille, and if it's the correct width, then maybe it would be easier to just shorten a grille, if you would have to shorten and narrow the other one. The 740T grille is 24-3/4" wide.
I can't remember if there's an eggcrate grille for your car or not.

Thanks! I got some firm measurements tonight. My stock vertical slat grille is approximately 22 7/8" long by 8 1/2" wide. The upper pins match identically with the 1990 eggcrate grille. The lower mounting pins are off however. The stock 91+ grille is 20 1/8" from pin to pin, whereas the 90 grille is around 20 1/2". I monkeyed with it quite a bit tonight. I was able to attach the top slots and then slightly bow the grille to pop it into place. Unfortunatley, while it stayed secure, it looks kinda awkward, like my baby just got a really big nose job. I think with some minor trimming on the interior of the 90 grille, shaving about 1/4" from both sides, it should fit nice and flush. I'll get some pics up when I get around to doing it this weekend.
HOWEVER! If anyone does know for a fact that there is a factory 91+ eggcrate grille for models without fogs, please let me know!

I know for a fact that there is NO such grille in the U.S. The 91+ non-fog grilles are confined to vertical slat styles, either all chrome or all black.
I believe all the Euro 7/9s had the Eurolights, which use the same grilles as the foglight style 7/9s in the U.S. There were at least two styles of eggcrates available for them.

Two styles? Do you know anything more about the differences between them?
I just ordered a new 940 egg crate (w/fogs) grill for my 90 760.

They are the same shape, just different details. The U.S. version is all-anthracite (probably the one you got.) There is also a european version that has a black center and chrome surround, like this:

It's not too hard to do this if you have two grilles for the same year model, a standard grille with chrome surround and a turbo grille. The grille centre is attached to the grill surround by six push-rivets, 3 on the top and 3 on the bottom. All you need is to carefully remove the push-rivets, swap the surrounds over, reinstall the push-rivets and voila! You have just created your own Euro style grille. 740's never had the Euro style egg-crate and chrome surround grille, but I nevertheless created one by swapping the chrome surrounds as I just described, and I think it looks good!

Where did you order your grille, TFT? How much did it cost? I have a 760T and want to change out my chrome grille for a black one.
