It's cool but any douchenozzle with lots of money and who drives an H2 with RIMZ can pay someone to build it.

So, um WTF are we doing so wrong here?
I don't see anything too out of the ordinary - o-ringed block, SPM rods, Mahle pistons, GT45, external wastegate (am I the only one that notices 2 different 'gates and turbos?)...
Oh yeah, we don't have them shoehorned into a tube-framed Opel Ascona with plexi windows.
10.54 @ ~160ish MPH is fuggin AWESOME!!!

Are you serious? He trapped ~130mph. A 160mph trap is a high 8, low 9.

OK, then whoever he borrowed the H2 from is a douche.
The car is cool but it's a race car. My Mercury runs 10's and was my DD for 3 years.
Now it's a trailer ornament since I decided to build a new engine/trans combo.
I want to see what we can get out of a Volvo powered Volvo, not a tube-chassis race car that weighs half of a 244, a car with all or most of it's interior that can be comfortably driven on the street.

You had a mercury that ran 10's, congratulations. Do you want me to get the owner of the Opel on here so he can apologize to you for not building a car that satisfies your wishes? It's his car, he built it the way he wanted it. Get over it.

this guy also had a 10 second 242 that was running 10s on stock pistons.
and this guy has some SERIOUS headwork to make 660hk on an 8v

This "What a super bitchin post" response should be worth at least 15 minutes of free work at your shop?
No?
Dammit.

He is probably using C16 or some other race fuel to be running that boost pressure.
Actually, by the injector sizing, most likely Methanol.
Good to see he is using the standard intake manifold and TB. Makes me want to reconsider my custom plenum.
Also are they stock pistons? They look like it.

Standard forged mahle's, runs on E-85 with no additives. It made 660hk on the dyno at 2 bar boost, then he raised it to 2.5 bar and it spun the tires on the dyno so 700hk is an estimated figure. I would say it's fairly representative of the actual power though.

he must be pulling timing heaps then at those boost pressures.

Why does that seem insane slow? Mid 10s isn't THAT fast for a turbo that big in a car that light.

e-85 is amazing ****
if i could run 1.5bar on a 9.8:1 cr engine without any pinging or detonation he should have no issues running 2.5bar on 9:1 or less...
you can even get the E85 custom mixed at some stations
most places mix it with 85octane unleaded (cheap) but some places will mix it with 91-94 octane if you know who to talk too
regular e85 is 115 octane, the premium mixed stuff is 127octane
e98 which is non mixed is 165octane or so...
the deal with E98 is that ure not suposed to get the federal $.60 gallon discount with it...
however i've worked out a deal with a local who is happy to sell me the e98 at the e85 price and sell the gas to someone else for more $$$
starting in 2009 the indy cars are going to be running on E98 instead of methanol (or is it CART?) suposedly they are going to gain another 5% in power with the switch

Somethings not right.
A GT42 is a MASSIVE turbo for a 2.3L motor. Yet he is only revving to 7k, and power falls after 6500.
Also looks like hes making some decent boost by 3750rpm.
That is strange.

Those dyno charts were for that smaller Holeset thats in the first pics. Seems like a lot of work for mid 10s but im sure he is just getting started. I thank a gt45 is way too much turbo for an 8 valve. Its just not going to rev/flow at 10k.

I don't have a problem with the car, but 10's out of a tube chassis car doesn't really impress me. Get that thing into the low end of the 9's and I would be far more impressed. And the overall build of the car doesn't look all that well built. It's fast but it's not all that impressive.
Like I said, I would like to see the Volvo powered Volvo build, not a redblock in a tube chassis.
And anyone with an H2 with RIMZ is a douche, especially with the price of gas.

but if he can afford the gas, why shouldn't he own the vehicle... ridiculous as it is?

The times that car has done this season is not with tubechassi, stock chassi and a rollcage with a 1031 in a homemade and far from optimal 4-link. 1000 kg on the line.
Next season will be with the tubechassi and GT45, it will do better then 10:54.

Are we reading the same project thread? The tube chassis is for next summer. All the current numbers are in a caged stock unibody.
