View Full Version : Awesome wheel find!!! Kinda barn!!!

So anyways I have been making lots of 5 hour trips recently. I always see this grey 240 sitting in the front of some run down old crappy shop. I usually just glance at it or forget about it till I almost pass it. But today I was on my way back from Fort Worth, and I was alone and didnt really have a tight schedule. So anyways I was driving down the road and I see the shop from a distance, and I think "hey there's that 240", so I actually get a chance to stare it down as I pass and I see something out of the ordinary, something you dont see much of...
MSW's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ohjoy::hyper:

I was like, "Wtf are those, BBS's? No way, they are prob just bertone wheels or something..." So I had enough time to waste, and I pulled up and got out of my truck and was quite surprised. They aren't BBS's, but they are some of my favorite wheels. I banged on the door, peaked in the window, to no avail. It was 9:30 in the morning and maybe they opened at 10, but I didnt feel like waiting. The shop looks run down, the inside looked like it was from the '70s and hadnt been touched since, filthy looking. The windows of the shop are yellow. All of the cars in front of the shop were old and looked like they hadnt been touched in ages. Anyways, the place might be abandoned, or 'hopefully' just not taken care of. I got the number off of the 10 yr old sign in the front and havent tried calling it yet. Im hoping I will get an answer tomorrow, I bet they would let the wheels and maybe the whole car(!) go for cheap. It looked like it had a pretty good b230f in it, no obvious oil leaks, just dusty. The body is pretty clean too and I always liked dark grey 240s.
I would consider it a barn find because it was in the middle of nowhere and looked like it was just put to pasture and forgotten about. Oh and I'm not gonna tell any of you Texas members where it is!!! I dont really know how hard it is to find MSW's, but I havent seen any for sale with 5x108 except here on tbricks.
Anyways, Im pretty stoked about this ish. If I cant get a hold of anybody I might have to steal them... :ninja:
Oh yeah, they have all of the centercaps!!! :omg:

Well they need to be refinished. I think they would look hard with a gunmetal/anthracite center and polished lip. They would make good wheels for autox, if they are 15x7, which Im pretty sure they are.

Do it the right way. Don't even consider stealing wheels, that's uper lowlife stuff.
My 244 resides in the middle of nowheres and half the time it's parked just like that with a flat tire and stuffed full of parts and other random stuff. I'd be damn pissed if some kid came along and stole the most valuable parts off my car.

yes, Sears as in the store... however better they have become recently, they are the pick of cheap ugly rims, commonly found in the 14/15" variety on early 90's corollas, maximas, sentras, and such... haha
I honestly would prefer to see a 1991 maxima rocking the stock steelies and plastic wheel covers than these things.. :barf:

now, they HAVE become better if you visit the Sears website but the better stuff costs more $$.

But they say MSW? Why are you showing me a pic of different wheels? I understand that they made cheap rims, but how can I tell if the ones I found are really MSWs? Of course I could go and look at them again, but I am four hours away... Anyways, I havent even called the person yet.

Stealing the car or even just the wheels? that **** is retarded and wrong on so many levels.
First there ugly as hell., old ass MSW not even the nice looking mesh version..
which leads me to..
second why would even steal something worth so little and so ugly...
thirdly...car thieves and car part thieves should have their balls cut off, I know some of you aint joking. and your dumb enough to talk about it on the internet?
Heres the plan. Approach the guy, offer him some money if you like them that much. If you cant find out whos car it is, or he says he aint sellin em...forget about the ugly things and then forget you ever thought they were cool.
Then, start saving some money and get yourself some nice looking wheels legally, feel good about yourself, and save us from having to look at misleading wheel posts. Awesome wheel find...I think not.

The wheels aren't that bad.... While this thread is terribly entertaining, I think what he meant by "Awesome wheel find" is that here is a not so important car sitting out at a shop in the middle of nowhere with aftermarket wheels that are better than the stocky's that he has probably been wanting to replace for eons but didn't have the means to drop $7-8-900 on a set when he has more important things to spend that money on, but since he found these, maybe, just maybe, he can get a great deal from some backwoods mechanic who just sees them as shiny wheels on an old crappy Volvo. (That is the longest run-on sentence I have ever submitted, so enjoy it).
Unfortunately, I have found similar deals, made the phone call or knocked on the door and the backwoods mechanic guy thinks that they are made of solid gold with a clever aluminum plating over them.
I hope this is not the case and that he can get a great deal on them, I mean honestly, they look better than these, don't they?

Marchul is running on Virgos right now, which IMO is way more attractive than those MSWs.
Even, so, the MSWs aren't THAAAAT ugly and I think they'd clean up nicely. Not to mention finding aftermarket bolton wheels is a rarity, which brings me to my next point. Because the owner of the vehicle has a set of rare (albeit ugly) leads me to think that he/she has at least at some point, a little pride in their 240, not unlike a regular TB member.
I'm happy you cats are just joking, but I think it's understandable that theives are so hated on this board, many of us don't have much as it is and would hate to lose it to someone not willing to earn and pay for it themselves.

Second off, I really dont care how they look or how rough they are. I just want to buy them because they look like they are 15x7s and i need a good wheel, that is prob lighter than any Volvo 15x7, for autocross. I have virgos with perfectly good dd tires on them now.

You should have just said that in the first place...no where did you, or anyone else talkin bout stealing them, make a reference (until other people said stuff) that you weren't really planning on stealing them. That doesn't make everyone else retarded because you poorly conveyed a joke. People steal wheels everyday, and the fact the car hasn't been touched for a long time means no one would even notice probably...which is why it seemed conceivable that you would think about stealing them.
If you gonna buy em cheap and auto-x with em, more power to ya.
That still dosen't change the fact that they are ugly and not something I would consider an Awesome wheel find!!!...But then again I am not on a $200 wheel budget and I have the one thing you cant put a price on...good taste.
