Hi all

Last night I won a modifed Volvo on Australian Ebay

It has alloy end tanks fitted on the stantard volvo core. I paid AUS$390 for it. The seller has some other wicked volvo stuff for sale as well below is a list of his stuff

Volvo Quad throttle bodies B230ft 740 turbo
Volvo 13mm NEW conrods b230ft 240 740 turbo
Volvo 531 full race head B230ft 740 turbo

Other stuff as well. Here is a link to the Item he has

bravo
yeah i saw that too. in my trawl of all ebay for volvo stuff  i'm there alot when the GF is at work

cool the end tanks aren't gonna crack or blow off, but my questoin was when i saw it. its still a volvo core so is it gonna flow any better,

i do advise getting that head though.

 oh and you forgot the thing about not posting Ebay stuff that you not selling so as not to step on other peoples toes (i've got my eye on the rods, was the GT cluster but as always i don't need that but i do WANT it) :-P

I've been watching his stuff as well, some damn nice gear there. I'd love that quad TB manifold but I just don't have the cash, and if I did I'd be spending it on my 164 and not the 242.

Hi

The reason for buying the intercooler was it had alloy end tanks on it. I can always put a bigger core in it down the track.

I had a rubber hose in the turbo/intercooler system(The joiner hose on the intake side of the intercooler to the steel TB to intercooler pipe) fail on me yesterday.

I don't want the intercooler end tank to fail and leave me stranded

As for the head on ebay. I know the person who had the head the throttle bodies & the intercooler built for the seller. And he said the head might not be the best thing to buy for a turbo engine. He should know works with volvos every day of the week

The intercooler that I want is the one that mustang guy has, he added a turbo to an NA mustang and uses 3 Volvo cores with joined endtanks for an IC...I bet that flows..

Alright, maybe I'm not seeing something here. The CBV mounted on that elbow is the kind that used to be on the Comp housing of the TDO5... No external pressure relief... just recirculates back into the pre-compressor blade portion of the turbo... i.e. that CBV the way its mounted is recirc'ing back into the IC pipe!?

There's no where else it could go!!

He's probably modified it so it just vents to atmosphere...seems logical enough, he's made the effort to mount it to the pipe.

The part that's circled is the part that "vents" the air back before the blades, unless that's hanging over the edge of the whole flange, it's not venting to the atmosphere. And if it were to be hanging over the edge, it would be leaking all the time. I e-mailed the seller and he said that it works, but when I pushed him on "how" it works, he never replied...?

I saw the stuff, and did not like the look of some of it, so stayed away.

If you look carefully at the TB, the welding on the back looks terrible, which always makes me wonder about the quality of the rest of it.
As for the head, it looks over kill for a turbo car, and he dumped perfectly good turbo spec valves for SS valves, which I'm not so sure are as reliable on a turbo car???

i'm sure it's pretty hard to find turbo valves in the various sizes one would want. and as he's gone 2mm larger then stock i'm sure stainless is a good choice
