What's up Turbobrick brethren? I am venturing in to the world of RWD bricks finally. I helped my girlfriend buy a damn clean '92 244 on eBay outta New York. After her Grand Prix spun another bearing for no apparent reason at 111k miles, she decided to get in to something a bit more reliable. I helped (ok, so I made the decision) her pick a new car. Anyways, on to the car, it's a 1 owner car, garage kept, everything works, no dents anywhere (yes I looked closely), new clutch, uuultra stock 244. But at least it's a 5-spd. Original owner was a professor at Princeton that lived about 15 miles away and just drove the car to Princeton every single day since 1992. It will likely stay stock with the exception of maybe sidemarkers, suspension bits, and uprated struts/shocks when the time comes since the girlfriend will remain the primary driver (though I will likely insist on driving it rather often due to the 5-spd).

Anyways, on to pics.... Lemme know what ya think.

Wow! Thats a damn clean car. Yeah I wouldn't do anything too drastic on the mods. Keep it simple like you said with maybe some wheels, suspension bits, etc. Good luck with it!!

Hmmm, a black "SE" grill but no "SE" badges...interesting.

Very nice car though! I like the pristine blue interior.

I noticed that too in the pictures. It's straight in person though. I made sure of that before committing to it. The only thing that's outstandingly wrong about this car is that the driver's kick panel sags a bit it seems, but less than my 850, so no big deal. Oh and the speakers, yeah... wtf Volvo?

i find it entertaining that you went up ABOVE the salt belt to get a car when you live in TX(or so it says)....living in WI, I am always looking at cars in TX or AZ. that car looks super clean, enjoy!

I got my 245 from Brooklyn NY. It had spent its entire life in the NYC/NJ region. It was utterly immaculate, not the slightest rust anywhere. I guess it lived a pretty easy life and never went out in the winter?

Genuine GM Quality :uh:

The car looks great, no problems visually. Plus a 5spd makes its better.

We live in Kansas, going to school, though our "permanent" residence is in TX still. My mother's S70, which is 6 yrs newer, but spent most of its life just a few blocks off the ocean in Florida, has a few rust spots (salt spray :???: ??). This 240 doesn't.... go figure.

Honestly, I don't know what that was. I flew in to NY to look at the car before buying it and there was no such problem. Pictures are a few months old. It might explain the black grille w/o the badges? Carfax reported no accidents. The car also has every service record and none of them include a bill from a body shop.

We're having the car shipped back to TX because the 21-day tags that would've cost us $150 for some reason wouldn't have lasted until Spring Break when we would have time to drive back home and get the inspection/registration mess figured out. $455 to ship from NYC area to Dallas is far less than we would've spent for plane tickets, gas, temp tag, hotel, and food. Plus, I'd be scared of hitting deer on the way back (Way too many close calls on deer).

Sidemarkers? :ninja: go back to Volvospeed, you. :nono:

Haha, c'mon be nice. It's technically the girlfriend's car. I can't do anything too crazy for it. I can get away w/ the sidemarkers thing 'cause it's a safety feature.

Who are you using for shipping? I'm having one shipped from Erie PA to Dallas right now as well.
