I just realized I slipped by the 5-year anniversary of my ownership of the 244. Oddly enough I've been running into seeing stock silver 83' 244ti's lately so that served me as a weird reminder as well as running across old pictures of it on cardomain and doug's pbase, so here they are.

The earliest picture I have of my car were the first ones though. I remember I took 2 others [from the side, and the rear] but I've lost them.

Burgerball 3. I wanted to come home for a weekend so I flew from Phoenix and drove the car to the meet and spent pretty much the whole weekend doing that. Out of this picture, the only 2 people who still have their cars are me and Alen [s40 in the back in front of me, the BTCC replica]. 2 of those cars are sadly deceased [Ryan's maroon 242, Noah's beige/eggshell 244 - the 2 cars I solely blame for getting me into Volvos in the first place], 2 I don't know about [Justin K's black 740, not sure if Frank Yee still has Justin S's teal 745 in the picture], and Doug's car is in Greg's hands now.

from December 03'. The black 244ti was my friend Pete's, he purchased it from Tuff240, had me [and than Ryan, volvoracer82, after I moved to Phoenix] do a few mods to it, and since the car has been in a few accidents but was sold when Pete moved up to Daly City.

shortly after moving to Phoenix, I did some more mods. I decided to drive the car to Santa Barbara for the Norcal Vs Socal Euro meet. This is probably one of the more memorable meets I've ever been to. Turnout was insane, out of about 900 other cars the 40+ or so Volvos were the only ones with the hoods popped. I even had an engine fire the night before I left and I still made the trip [note the extinguisher stuff on stuff around the starter area]

I took those pictures after freshening the car up to be my DD again while my 00' V70R was getting fixed

It turned out to be cheaper to rent a uhaul and tow dolly to move my 244 from my house to Mike's [thelostartof] since I did'nt have AAA. Jesse [Jao] helped me out. I lived in North Phoenix and Mike was in Apache Junction [50 miles?].

I'm surprised, but happy to have had the car half a decade now. Wonder whats gonna happen the next half.

After driving a 240 today... just got done doing the torque rods and two new motor mounts.... I really REALLY am starting to think of trading in the RAV4 on one as a DD.

And... maybe getting rid of the 740 before I get too deep into the project, but I have had it for almost 2 years.

Meh, had the AE86 for almost 3, and I was GLAD to get tha cult icon off my back.

Yeah, there's a... can't remember, a '92 or '93 at a lot close to home here. He wants $500 and I offered $400. This was in October/November and the car is still sitting behind his shop. I'll stop in again when spring breaks. Engine leaks like a seive so the best bet is to pull the motor & tranny and renew the seals and mounts. Then I'll want to +t and suspension upgrades and pretty soon my cheap DD is another $$ toy. ;-)

turbo L blocks down here would run you less than $300 for the block/manifolds/turbo out of a 940
or i think you might be happier doing a drop in b234f with the balance shafts removed, an M47 and MS
the 240 really always wanted a 16v motor

Thats how all the NorCal meets used to be around the time I joined and started going. Now its like you can't even pay people to show up... The last Hooters meet had about 3-4 Volvos whereas some of the previous ones had 30+ :-(

Well, I actually sold them 3+ years ago [to Vercetti]. I used Duplicolor graphite wheel spraypaint on them.
