I'm thinking about getting a nice paintjob for my 245. I don't like the butterscotch anymore. Never really have.

I want a paintjob that compliments the car's style while having a more modern look also. I've got brown leather interior.

I was thinking either Black, British Racing Green, or Silver. and I'm going to tint the windows

This is what I've got now.

any suggestions?

If you paint your car "British Racing Green," I will walk to Florida and key your car.

Why the **** would you waste money on paint when your paint is fine? Your car is worth like 600 bucks.

BEIGE MOTHER****ER (i've had a beige wagon for 5 years)

BEIGE ONEONEONEONEON

beige and brown naturally go together.

Ahhh British racing green, the greatest car color ever. However I think your car looks great the way it is(spend the money on rims), and I don't really like green 240's.

Yeah man your paint looks fine the way it is. I say keep it that way.

+1. Unless the paint job costs thousands, it's not likely to look better than that paint looks. And there's bare painted metal inside a 240 too. Lots of greasy door jambs and engine bay too. I think it looks better when it all matches the exterior.

Because he doesn't like beige? It's his ****ing car. Why the **** would you waste your energy on telling someone what they shouldn't do to their car?

If it makes him happy, he should paint it **** brown camo.

Edit: The way you said it seemed a bit *******-ish, but you're pretty much right. With our cars, it's usually smarter to sell them and find a straight bodied, good paint, version of the car you want, in the color you want. It's cheaper than a paintjob and if you can wait it out, you can generally find what you want.

Yeah, its too much effort.

That's why I have'nt done it yet.

I'll just keep it the way it is. It'll probably grow on me.

what rims do you think I should put on?

I think Virgo's or Draco's just because you can find them anywhere.

If my 240 was that color, I'd want to paint it too. Only the 'Old Band-Aid' salmon color of the early 80's is worse IMHO.

Two ways to get a cheap paint job:

1) DIY, and spend hours & hours getting it right.

2) Find a local community college with an auto-body program. This can result in an amazingly nice paint job for much less than Maaco.

That's easy: black. Actually, I don't mind red either. Only young people can pull off beige.

p.s.. why the hell would you paint a car with a perfectly good paint job. that's just stupid. i like tan.. it's a classy colour... my walls are tan.. so is the shirt i'm wearing right now. tan ftw! just get some rims. or move to the northeast so you have rational reason to paint your car. or again.. pink, bunnies.. yadda yadda yadda.

Silver, as shown below, in my sig; code #110 Cypress green - http://home.blarg.net/~volvo242gt/front145.jpg; code #200 blue metallic - http://home.blarg.net/~volvo242gt/right245GL.jpg...

Those would be my three choices. Yes, we also owned a code #201 245DL... Color was quite bland. Not as bland as my old '81 242DL, which was #137 Artesia Beige - looked like a cooked porkchop. Worst offender is #146, which, IIRC, is the salmon beige, or uncooked porkchop color...

Graphite Gray #177 is also fairly nice, when the clear is in good shape, as is redwood metallic #175.
