It says that it's a turbo diesel.

Notice the plate- basically you're going to have to find a set in europe.

You'll need a 780 from a Right-Hand Traffic (LHD) country that gets ecodes.
Good luck, they aren't common, but they do look far better than our 780 lights.

And since roughly 5500 of the 9500 Bertones were delivered with DOT headlights, and how many of the remaining 4000 cars were sent to LHT/RHD countries, and how rare & expensive even the DOT headlights for Bertones are, I say to you sir "Good Luck!"

BTW, I believe that white car is a diesel.

Good luck doing a Bertone conversion. Body parts from those are aren't cheap.

On a side note, a friend of a friend just bought a 89 780 turbo with less than 100k on the clock. I've been talking up volvo performance, so maybe I'll sway another soul to the dark side. :oogle:

as far as I'm aware, 780s were never sent to countries that use RHD (Being from the UK myself, and never ever having seen a 780 in real life leads me to believe this... and from asking around they never made it to Australia either - which is also a RHD country).

Looking at the car in the first post, I'm going to assume it's French (the F on the numberplate). France is a LHD country.

Well that is encouraging. Too bad I've already got alternate plans for the headlights on mine...

They made it to Japan!! Then again Japan is one of the odd countries where you can register both LHD and RHD cars. My Japanese Volvo brochures actually shows that you have a choice of LHD and RHD on certain models.. with different equipment levels!

Japanese look at LHD cars as a status symbol (or so I've heard)

As 340 says, they never made it to the UK; although there is one here now within the VOC; it was at the Classic Car Show and looked really good.... I want one.

They did come with Diesel engines (The same engine as the 700's did) for the european market.
