Im sure there is a thread out there or someones got a pic, but can you post it up please and tell me what's involved? I was thinking instead of a +t why not throw a 7 series engine in. how much work is involved?

swap out motor mounts.. thats about it.. oh and you cant use a head mounted dist. in a 240 you have to use a block mounted or coilpack(s)

Over the summer I hope to put in a B230FT from a 89 740tic into my 84 244gl or my 79 242GT..

it will have no a/c but it will have the 240 a/c delete (locates the P/S pump where the A/C comp. was) and i will use the 240 alt. location as well.. along with a block mounted dist. and as for the electrical LH2.2 or Megasquirt+coilpacks..

Whats required in putting a block mounted dizzy in it? cutting out that casting? Plus i'd like to keep my a/c.

The spot is already there you just need to remove the block off disc insert thingy and buy another one to put in back.

The part number you need is: 1336763 and at the stealers its about 6$

You need to rebuild the oil cooler if you are going to use 3" downpipe. Swap it for a air cooled one, with a sandwich on the block, or you can modify the original one.

And the intermediate shaft needs to be swapped. Not a big deal really. And the plug for the rear of the head should get a retainer plate. IPD sells them cheap.
It's an easy swap but you need to watch for other details like the crank sensor in the bellhousing, so you might need a different bellhousing, oil cooler plumbing, and the wiring. But it's really not that bad.

What model is your 240? 89->? Nevermind, I see you planned a+t = pre 89. It is not a really big deal, but you need to get urself

- an in-tank pump with assembly
- some fuel lines, a new pump under the car,
- new throttle-wire
- complete lh2.4 wiring harnest from 89-> 240
- resistors for the injectors
- downpipe and lambda
- fuel and ignition ecu (chip if 97-model ecus)

I'm sure there is a lot of small things you need to buy as well. I did the swap from b230a -> b230fk on my own car, so just ask if you got some questions. :) I prefer on PM!

he can keep his LH2.2.. he will just need a lh2.2 motor harness.. (ie: just pull the motor from a LH2.2 740 like a 89)

Bah, I am mistaken now. I thought he had a b230a. :P Now I see its a +t kit... Yeah, he can keep it, but LH2.2. FT is old... Why not just swap the wiring harnest, its fast and easy when he has removed the engine from the e-bay. I guess the harnest is cheap too. 100 dollars?
