header for my B20 in the 145

So I bought a cheesy chrome Pacesetter header off Ebay. I have a cracked downpipe and have been wanting a header for a while, because inline 4s with headers and carbs just look badass. It was listed as "Volvo header 67-75 B1800" So he didn't have very many hits on it, and I got it fairly cheap. but when I got it home and opened it, I realized that I don't want it anymore.

It was packaged terribly and got all messed up. The header wasnt' wrapped up, it was just thrown in the box and those air-pocket packaging bags were crammed around it. So the tip of the header where it bolts to the exhaust pipe is all bent. The gasket is cracked in half since it was just thrown in the box, the flange and tube were just thrown in there too, so they slapped the header all up, scratching off some of the chrome. the main flange is ugly as hell, and it's not even flat! it's warped AND ground in a curve?!

and here's the worst part: The sticker got scratched. Oh, the humanity!

So what would you do? Ask for a refund? Shut up, bolt it on the car, do a burnout and take pictures? Or ask for money to pay for the damages? I emailed the dude and sent the pictures, just so that he knows that he sucks at shipping. I havent' heard back yet though... I know I can fix this stuff, get a new gasket, and make it work, but I am not sure that I really want to. Just looking for some suggestions/comments.

Wow dude, that looks like total @$$!! Toothpaste welds, poor chrome, and a REALLY poor design on the head flange. You'll certainly want to clean up the ports a little if you keep it. I'd probably personally ask for either a full refund and shipping fees to mail it back, or a 50% refund, then keep it and clean it up.

BTW make darn sure that flange is straight and the exhaust pipe half is completely flat when you bolt them up. You also may wanna look at getting some aluminum collector gaskets for it (got mine from AZ for $15 including 2 gaskets and 6 bolts). I kept blowing gaskets out.

Looks like spray paint chrome! I'd be most upset about the flange design. Even ipd's is better than that!

The dude has agreed to a full refund, I just need to pay to ship it back to him. I'll be out 20 bucks and I still can't fix my cracked downpipe. dammit.


Gary, I think I'll suggest what you said, cover the shipping fees for a FULL refund, or give me back 50% of the cash. I can make this thing work, but it'll be a pain.

+1 on the AL flange gaskets. I was blowing out the fiber ones on my flat flange 16T/downpipe flange every few weeks like clockwork until I got a solid soft aluminum flange and it's been fine for 5 months and counting.

And is it just me or did they skip a bit of welding on the collector? Man, that thing looks junky. I'd look for a 4/2/1 header. John Parker sells them, KgTrimning, SAM sell them, et al.

ewww gross.. i'd get 50% back, work on it, and paint it high temp flat black.. then hope it'll be worth the time..
