Picked this up last night. Interior is shredded and it hasn't been started in years (how many, who knows). A critter lived under the hood and chewed many of the wires so trying to crank it at this point is not an option. It is an '81, is complete and I can't find any rust anywhere on it. N/A with an M46. Minor damage in the rear from an accident (easily fixed so the trunk is wired down). I got the ORIGINAL title that was issued in 1981, yes, a one owner.
Think it was worth the $190 I paid for it?

No. But congrats. You'll never want a 244 ever again.

100% Texas car. You should see underneath it. It's near perfect. The OD actually reads 61K miles, I wasn't sure at first, but the po only had a 10 mile drive to work....

Miles don't really mean much when the car basically needs to be torn down to the frame.

My 242 only had 120k miles, also single owner, minimal rust, but it had also been sitting for 10 years.

Sure, I understand that, but it makes me feel really good about the motor, at least. Interior and some wiring doesn't worry me much. Compared to my silver turbo 242 I got, this is a real jewel. The silver one has rust in the the arches and butt cheeks and didn't have a title.
I'm happy about this one, nonetheless....

Maybe... I used to have a 1981 NA 242. Great car. Best year for the B21F in my opinion.

Ha! That would be great to just leave it alone! It doesn't even have surface rust, the red is what's left of the paint and the gray is primer. Would be cool if it was all surface rust, though....

What do you think? Wide whitewalls? Lake pipes?

Yes, I just hit my 4 Volvo limit last night as I picked up my dd '81 242. Some of you may have seen this car before as I got it from a fellow tbricker. The drive in to work this morning was great!!

I plan to do small bumpers, lower it a bit, change the wheels, flathood, 7" rounds and add a stripe kit fairly soon....

Awesome find man. One of the places to check to make absolutely sure there is no rust is in the rear quarter panels. Pull the rear interior panels and look inside. If there is any water after washing it, or a good rain, or if you just see any rust, kill it before it gets worse. Otherwise, yes, very very worth the money spent.

I would say it looks good for the money although the brown 242 in my avatar was only $250 and my uncle just bought a running 2000' S40 with a missfire for $100. It now runs very nice after one new coil and all it needs is a boost controller. Anyway, it looks fairly nice for the $.

Hey, that's no fair!!! ...Insider!!

Yeah my wife told me I had a limit of 4...so I made sure I got ther as fast as I could!
The silver 242 turbo will have to leave soon. Now that I have the red 'ish' 242 that is in better shape, I will get rid of....what's left of....the silver 242. Anyone interested in a 242 race car?! It's a shell, ready for a cage and all the fantabulous racing mods you can throw at it!!
