Got them for free, I dont know If'll keep them. I would have taken some pics, but too embarassing . just kidding. camera ran out of battery. Do anyone know how to fix wheels up cheap?

In order: +T (or something more powerful), better braking (this probably should be before the +T though), lowering (or at least making it handle better), and then taking care of the exterior (E-codes, taking off the roof rack unless you really use it, etc.).

Just my opinion though.

Also, I think I found some help for your wheel scuffs (don't ask me how much it will cost, I just pulled it off of google):

thanks for the article yo!
and i upgraded teh brakes a while ago. For a while it was on Brembo Rotors, Now on Powerslots. I'll love to do a big brake conversion (brembo rotors, s60r calipers, etc..). Would look great with (if i ever hopefully got) a decent set of 18" Pegs on spacers.

My neighbor has a clean 84 GLT. It's NA. I would love to +t a car as clean.

You need to put the damn hubcaps back on until you get your Virgos. Those stock steelies look like ****. Otherwise it's a good looking car with alot of potential. Don't you already have the springs to lower it? It took me like 1.5hrs in my driveway to install the springs with the help of a friend and a rented spring compressor. I did have an air impact for the nut on the strut which sped things up.

By '84 there wasn't a n/a GLT in North America, so it's probably an earlier car. Does it have the large commando bumpers? It should be an '81-'82 if it's a n/a B21F GLT. B23E in Canada. B21F w/LH1.0 in some '82 GLTs.

I read this and looked at his car. I don't know why I thought it was an 84 but it has commandos that are black. I think that's why I thought it was a later car. But it's got the black headliner that I lust after!

Well, the way I approached my cars was upgrading stuff as it needed to be replaced.
Got my brakes in nice shape from Captain Bondo. Now I have metallic pads and slotted and cross drilled rotors. Then my headlight bulb burned out, so I bought eCodes... Then I bought rims and spacers... Then I started collecting swaybars and koni struts, then I got some turbo stuff together... Then I decided to sell the car and get a later 940T:-P But your car has a bit more of a solid body than mine.
Just upgrade as it becomes available. And my biggest advice is to scour on here, scour ebay, and scour craigslist religiously. Don't snooze when a good deal comes along, either. Some of my best parts were me ready with cash and being on turbobricks late at night!

The GLT, FWIW, had a higher compression n/a engine, and were also sold in Canada between 1981-84' - Maybe in the states as well.

My car:
1991 (techinally92) Volvo 245 Swedish Deilvery.
Came with M47, SRS, Limited Slip Diff, ABS, Aux Gauges, Chrome Front Grill (no longer with us), chrome trim(also gone), chrome doorpulls (also 3/4:-P gone), Fog Lights, And when the car was in Sweden, my parents (prev. owners) switched out the Exhaust system to a 240 Turbo's. Oh yeah, lol I was A baby when they(we) went and bought the car from Sweden through the Tourist&Diplomat Sales (modern day Volvo Overseas Deilvery )
Apparently, the car also got a whole lotta goodies from some Swedish Volvo Chain Store..Bilia, I think.
Here's the Original Key Tag that came with the car, 16 years ago.

That's a better base car than most can ever hope for. Cut the springs then decide what's more important, going fast or looks. Fast = +T it. Looks = Tint and 17" or bigger wheels and get rid of some of the easily removable accessories. Ditch the racks, remove most emblems and the reflector tape on the rear bumper.

It was a 90, essentially same as 91 except ABS was optional in 91.

It was put back to stock and sold. :-(

Probably one of the nicest cars I have ever owned from a cleanliness/perfection standpoint.

Volvo accessory wood slat rack for 145 and 245. Restored = professionally sprayed gloss black, new white-washed oak wood slats and all new chrome hardware and acorn style nuts. Cost me $400 or so to do all that back then. It's my VW background coming out. :-P

Yo! what is involved in pulling off that door bottom trim? Pain in the arse getting the glue off?

My memory is not the best, but I used goo gone to clean up a lot of the residue and I scraped to remove the glue with a putty remover and maybe some sanding too. There isn't really a good way to go about it unless you plan on filling the holes and painting the car imo. Removing the glue involves some damage to the original paint . I actually like the lower trim on certain colors, i.e. red or white, but on black it doesn't work.

Your car is pretty clean, freeride, but I think you definitely need to ditch the steelies and get rid of the extra badges/trim/etc. Simple is best. I'll see if I have other pics to put up of it per your request, I already see the one of it at Davis (with black virgos and stock headlights) in your 245 thread.

I will also note that pulling that trim off my car resulted in paint damage that I was prepared to deal with. Although the one time I had a piece of that trim coming loose so I pulled it off the rest of the way to re-stick it, I was not too happy to see paint stuck to the adhesive. I found it very difficult to remove the adhesive after the trim was off.

Get 3m double sided trim tape from an auto paint supply store. They have different widths and thicknesses available. It might be kind of pricey if you are just wanting to stick one piece on, but it's the only thing I found that would work "as factory".

I am driving up,and can take one more comfortably,

with a good grill, and passenger light bucket.
Guess I need to take the camera.

Why? It's not like your hood sticks up or out like the formal hoods do. Your hood is fine as is.

Wood trim is nasty looking IMO, but to each their own.

Regarding your craigslist add:
I have a tan shift boot.

FYI - The rear headrest cushions for your car are the same as the front ones.

Don't think they are...

No :jk: not yet ;-)

Usually that's relatively open enough that you can see what goes on in there...

It's about the cowl, it's different on the later cars.

Okay, so well about an hour ago, saw my next door neighbor outside, and talked about our volvos for a bit. Told him i'm looking for rims, and he offered a Even trade for his 745Turbo's Rims.
Should I? Think They look pretty decent.
Anyways, these would NOT be longterm.

Oh ****, his 240 does have 14"s
I don't think it will clear the brakes. The ABS cars need 15" or bigger.

Don't think what is? Wood like ass or rear headrest cushions? You're wrong on both accounts, that's what you get for thinking.

Ditch the permanent roof rack. Then, only use the Thule rack when you need it. For a while, my 245 was with both the rack and a Yakima rack on it. Removed both. No wind noise, and, once I have a properly working OD, I should be getting somewhat decent mileage. Also, replace your pleather seats with either cloth, or real leather seats... Ya have the usual worn driver's seat bottom... Cloth is more comfortable in hot weather, and leather is just nicer than vinyl... Your steel rims would look good, combined with the older two-piece hubcaps and chrome trim rings... But, alloys are better. Even a set of Virgos that were in so-so condition would be an improvement.

You're a fool, the rear headrest is a different shape.
And I was confirming that the cowl will look completely messed up.

You're a fool, the rear headrest is a different shape.Noooo, YOU are making yourself look like a fool right now (and me an ashole that I admitedly can be sometimes).

The accessory front seat headrest cushions for 86 and newer 240's will also fit the 89 and newer 245 rear headrests. 244 rear headrests (accessory up to 88 and standard on 89 and newer 244's) are different and do require a different headrest cushion.
