I started with a bumper cover from another car, which was then spliced onto a factory volvo bumper.

Then I cut the profile of bottom of the airdam form corrugated plastic to define the perimeter of the lower lip. Then I filled it in with fiberglass reinforced bondo.

The whole thing weighed 70lbs then it was done. Then I made a mold and made a copy from fiberglass. The fiberglass one is of course much lighter.

I am hoping to start making copies from polyurethane, but R&D for setting up the casting process is on hold becuase I have an assload of manifolds to build for people at the moment. :rofl:

I will be making sideskirts and a rear dam as well.

some sort of cavalier i think. It wouldn't matter what was used though, absolutely none of the original shape of the bumper that was added remains.

In fact it was a pita becuase the cavalier bumper wasn't wide enough to match the stock bumper well- I have to cut it down the middle and widen it about 2". If for some terrible reason I had to do it again I'd try to find something wider.

I started with a bumper cover from another car, which was then spliced onto a factory volvo bumper.

Then I cut the profile of bottom of the airdam form corrugated plastic to define the perimeter of the lower lip. Then I filled it in with fiberglass reinforced bondo.

The whole thing weighed 70lbs then it was done. Then I made a mold and made a copy from fiberglass. The fiberglass one is of course much lighter.

I am hoping to start making copies from polyurethane, but R&D for setting up the casting process is on hold becuase I have an assload of manifolds to build for people at the moment. :rofl:

I will be making sideskirts and a rear dam as well.

You'll also be making one for 700's too, I assume. :-P

Here's my '92. It's in the works. I bought it in 1997, with about 79K on it. Traded it in for my V70 in 2001, bought it back from the people that had it in 2005- they only put 12K on it in four years!


So far: Black chrome powder coated Virgos, all black cloth interior, roofrack delete, snow caps, IPD sways, armrest.
In the works: e-codes, black door trim (no chrome), putting the black driver's door handle BACK ON, putting the fender signals BACK ON, Bosch fogs, gray door trim and buttcheek delete

Oh, and at the bottom, photoshop of my V70 bumper on the 240- good?
