View Full Version : 850R spoiler on a 940
Found a really nice 850R rear spoiler on an engine fire junker on Friday. I thought about selling it off but mmm... would it work on the 940?
I sanded the entire center 'leg' off from under the spoiler to bring the center down to where it belongs. A bit more fitting to go before its perfect.

Using the original hardware.

Someone tried prying the spoiler off and gouged the rear corner. A bit of filler and some more sanding and contouring to go.

Hawtness!

I'm going to paint the spoiler green to match and the spoiler inset I'm leaning towards black. I'm going to convert the spoiler lighting to LEDs.

I think you should pull the badges off the back of the car
and find the italic Porsche "Turbo" emblem to put in the center above the license plate

It looks... Fabulosopimptacular! :oogle:
Looking at it on a flat trunked 850 I didn't think there was any way in hell it would work on a rounded trunk lidded 940.

I was going to pawn it but by the time Smith said you wanted it, it spent 30 minutes on the belt sander.
They can't be too hard to come by in the junk yard! :-P

I think you need to wire up the lights on the spoiler so that I get that side to side KITT car kind of thing going on when the brake lights are on.

I have yet to see a spoiler on a 940t that I like, but this gets pretty damn close. Good stuff.

I was originally going to slap on one of those ebay M3 or M5 lip spoilers then someone on here recently had a 940 spoiler but never replied to my PMs so I damn near ordered the M5 spoiler the other night.
And then this was in the yard for the taking.
Got my final underneath contouring to match the trunk lid done this morning and clamped it on good & tight and took it for a spin. :oogle: 75ish and you can definitely feel it doing its thing.

Thanks. Actually, the trunk lid fell and caught me on the top of my nose yesterday. Peeled off some skin on the way down and caused me to say bad words. :grrr: Got my eye on some struts on ebay. Still didn't get on those Euro side markers I got from you at SE. :-(

That looks great.
Got the spoiler repainted to 421 Tropic Green Metallic with a flat black lip. As for now, the spoiler is back on the car but will soon be off to be converted to LED lighting, then back on permanently with clamps & glue. :spin:

It would match if you washed your car!

The car got washed last weekend with the inch+ of rain. The spoiler is a shade darker than the car and so needs a year or so to fade. Hard to match the paint when they have the spoiler and I have the car.
Pics don't do it justice. Oh sh1tz... dragging my ass on that HID install article I'm mailing to you. Worked a double shift all last week but didn't have time to cut down some paper to 8½ x 14.

Hi,
I have a question about painting.
Did you do the paint job yourself. if so then where did you buy paint and clearcoat.
Maybe you could give me a few hints about painting process you used (how many coats, time in between, etc)
The job looks really nice.
I have a rear pass side door to be painted from 412 to 606 I think and if you have any hints that'd be great.
if you took it somewhere to paint then just forget about my post :omg:

Or you could just get someone who works detail (ahem *me* ahem) to come down and cut/polish/ wax the rest of your car to match the spoiler :-P

Well... I've had the car for almost 2 years and have yet to wax it. If yer offerin'!
