But do I need to change the entire dash handbrake handle, armrest, knee plastic, glove compartment etc.

It can be done, but its a LOT of work, the 960 has a different dash, firewall, heat/AC box & dash mounting points than the 940 however, the instrument cluster is the same shape so thats one less thing to hassle with.

Get a 760 first, then convert it. Or in other words, what he said /\/\ :-(

It's all way to different to try to swap. Your best bet would be to just buy a 940SE/960 with that dash and build that car up.

My car shipped OEM with Wood, but Woodie that's not the question. Convert to 960 without to much of a hassle. But that seems not gonna happend :(

Since you have a '98 940, I thought the late 940 dash and interior was the same as a '960 from '95 on.........
The only difference I know of is the climate control valve against the firewall is different.
So why bother?

960 dash is better in every way. Double Din stereo spot(can be used for single din radio and guages), adjustable steering column, smoother look, all came with auto climate, etc.

I think the Volvo 960 is better looking yes, about that double-din. I had a 780 radio panel fitted http://www.badongo.com/t/640/1790118.jpg
