i know this is not a performance but there is not much in paint and body work. so i have a 89 740 and i would like to shave the drip rail that goes around the top of the door. I was wanting to know if someone has done it and what problem they ran into

I would think removing it with a cut off wheel and then welding up the seam and then grinding it down and painting would be most of the work

its not about how to do it. i would like to know is there a down fall to do this, because there is no problem for me doing body work and paint

others have done it in sweden so rewelding it would fix the issue of the lack of the seam no?

The biggest problem would be that it takes a serious amount of bodywork to keep things looking straight. I wouldn't attempt it unless you're really, professionally good at bodywork.
