Boston Area volvo people interested in meeting up somewhere and just shooting the breeze? No agenda, no supercars needed(mainly cause I'm rockin the NA '89 245!).
I live in Cambridge, MA and I'm just interested in learning and seeing what others have.

Yeah I hate the fact that I'm the only person in NE who posts here. It sucks to be alone.

Don't forget about Philip B, Jason Z, Cullen, Roger Lee, Kyle B, and several other guys who posted in the wintercross thread.

I'm from the taunton area, and am going to school in Westfield, so anywhere in MA you wanna meet, i'm good for (so long as the car's acting nicely, which wasn't the case when i tried to go to CT  )

Ah fall riv, don't they have a legal one down on the ave? I've never been, only heard about it. 24 aint too bad, but i've seen way too much blue on it lately, a little paranoid about it

snafu

theres no quarter on the ave, i dont think, just on 24. but last time we were there we did see a few cruisers parked along the ave.

WOW, sorry I misjudged the number of New Englanders here, I'm down to race(Autocross or drag), but I'm pretty sure I won't be beating anyone!
I'd love to join you guys down in fall river some time, although saturday nights are ussually reserved for midnight movies with the girl. But I'm sure we can figure something out. PM me, e-mail, whatever, we should do this soon!

I dunno, i'm game wherever anyone else wants to meet. Helps if it's on a weekend though. Any ideas on where?

I dont really know of any legal places to race this time of year. If we were to just meet up, i guess it would depend on were everyone else is coming from and we could just pick a spot in the middle.

From the CART website detailing the AutoX event:
"5. Timing will be by stopwatch or our best estimate of your your time or when we get tired of waiting for you to cross the finishline. If you need to be towed in, this will be included in your run time."
bwahaha, nice to see they're def all about having fun!(Maybe I shouldn't laugh, odds are I'd be one of the ones that takes forever to get through the course!) I'd love to race in this, but I def don't have a race helmet, and I'd rather not put my baby through that until I get a couple of engine bugs worked out.(i.e. the check engine light, haynes manual should come in the mail today or tommorow!)
Well I'll see you guys there though for sure, is there anything I need to do as a spectator aside from bring something to eat and a lawn chair  ?

Blackbrick
01-29-2003, 06:44 PM
not really, just dress warm. You could, if you so desire, volunteer to work the course. they usually go in 1/2 hr. intervals out there and it gives you a front row spot to watch from. all you gotta do is call in cone hits and off course cars and put cones back, its easy. BTW helmets are fairly cheap, just go to a bike shop and take a look just don't go to a harley shop, BIG $$$$ ...... we'll see ya there

You guys want MORE SNOW!?

You all must've been born here. I was born in OK, and I sure don't like snow for much longer than a month or so. Winter is just too damn long in New England.

I work right next to Devens and yes they hold many autocrosses there.

I am interested in meeting other Volvo Owners. I just purchased a 99 S70 AWD turbo and love it.

I plan on doing some limited autocross with a club in Maine one of my VW coworkers belongs to.

Nick, slevenh, send me an email, I try to keep a New England email list. Even though there is a Boston VCOA chapter, those guys are more interested in the old Volvos, like the 140 on down. And they don't have many (any?) race type get-togethers that I am aware of.
