uh no real photos
I just cut holes and have the regular 6x9's running.
Though in hindsight I might try a spacer, since you can no longer mount child seat anchors.

I saw a really neat one in a 240 on here the other day, wood that built up above the height of the rear seat and leaning forwards between the two of them.

Go for some 300W JBL 6x9's and a good amp to power them, and make sure the holes into the boot are open so it will be able to make some bass, and it'll have as much bass as having a 10' sub.

that is nice, but did it require cutting any steel? i wanna avoid that if i can.

i was thinking of building it up out of MDF, making it all flat, so it would sit just below the windscreen rubber, and flush with the top of the back seat.

That looks great! What did you use to cover it? Looks like black felt?

yeah i used black felt because it looks very close to stock, and also has a decent amount of "stretch" so you can get no wrinkles when going over extremly contoured areas

The parcel shelf was found in a bone yard. Someone had done a very good job recovering it. I cut the holes for the speakers and used the spacers to keep from having to cut any metal.

Here's my vinyl covered rear deck. The glue I used was crap and the vinyl began to peel off in the summer heat. I also didn't like my hardboard/acoustic fabric speaker covers.

What I have now is a single, unbroken piece of carpet. The carpet is open enough that it doesn't affect the sound coming from the 6.5" Pioneers mounted from within the trunk. Looks more stock, can't even tell there's speakers in the back.

not sure i like the vinyl. cool we have the same backseat too.

so it looks like the easiest is just to recover the stock one.

so im guessing just spray contact cement straight over it?
also would you recommend a slim layer of sponge first and then fabric? or just fabric straight over.

I built a shallow box that would fit a pair of 6x9's and then laid an MDF cover on top and gave it a carpet job.
Looked really tidy i thought, until some theivin **** stole the whole thing. THey are lucky I will never find them...
Otherwise id have been happy to let you copy it!

How are those pioneers you're running? I just ordered an identical pair for my 240 wagon. Unfortunately I have no parcel tray and ended up cutting big holes with half-risers in my rear door panels.

I modified the existing mounts and enlarged the holes to fit a pair of 5x7s in. Keeps the stock look with better sound.
