Head port of my 850 T5

Hello

I was wondering if there is some HP to get from af head port job of my Volvo 850 T5??

So far the engine looks like this:

- 3" Exhaust
- Racekat
- Green airboxfilter
- 16T turbo with 19T turbinehouse
- GLT-cams (PGI/PGE)
- Boost 1,1 bar

All this have been "trimmed" together from a danish company called RH Motorsport.

Result:
275 hk. v. / 5200 rpm.
424,6 nm. v. / 3959 rpm.

What can i expect from a port job??

Anything that increases the volumetric efficiency of the engine will help you make more power with less boost, but with your current spec I think you may be better served investing in something like a bigger turbo or new rods.

The general consensus is that a T5 head with GLT cams will flow air for a maximum of roughly 500bhp.

Kanske borde fråga killarna på TPC. Finns got om vitblockskännare där. ;-)

in the standard abrasives porting guide they say cleaning up stock casting marks will yeild around 25 to 30 hp if done correctly

Yeah, i have thought of another turbo also, maybe a Garret GT2860RS, but i would really want to try a head job. Also because i need a head in better shape that mine are know.

a few things, they are talking about a V8 with those improvement numbers,and the Volvo head might be "cleaner" as from the factory, that I don't know for sure...I would say it couldn't hurt, depends on how much it costs and if you can do it yourself or if you have to pay someone...

Probably means turbine housing.

Means turbine housing indeed, the angled housing is the upgrade.

Yeah, its the turbine housing with the angled 3" hole i got on my 16T turbo.
I got it cheap and its brand new, so why not...
