So I have a SAM spoiler but the PO just screwed it in thru the tailgate... Anyone have pics of the original hardware?

If we're talking the 7-series wing, it comes with a screw for each end that goes thru the tailgate, and a tube of tar-like glue (think windshield type glue) that goes along the entire surface. That's the intended mounting from SAM. Mine's been fine for over 2 years so far.

Wow... That seems pretty ghetto when it appears that there are proper metal mounting brackets built right in to the wing.
I e-mailed SAM last night - maybe they've improved the process?
I guess I could just squirt some liquid nails or WindoWeld on it and throw a deck screw in there for good measure. :-P

We may not be talking about the same wing. There's no metal on mine, at all.
Here's the one I've got...

Mine looks exactly like that, except with the clear LED. On the sides underneath there is a little strip of metal with slots in it. One side of mine has a nut cast into it, but just one side?
friggin weird.

Wow, that's not the same as mine by any means.

Mine is held on by double sided tape on the surface that meets the top of the tailgate.
As for the sides, the lips on either side of the edge of the spoiler is how it is also attached to the tailgate. I bought mine from a guy on the board but I am not sure if the clips he sent me to clip the sides to the tailgate are original. The clips he sent me are very effective. They are u shaped and are made of some sort of aluminum alloy.
Looks something like this |_| and just slides over the edge of the tailgete and the lip edge of the spoiler sort of like a clamp. The u shape clips remind me of a track from slide out shelving that may have been cut to size. If the clips come loose they won't come off as the closeness to the body of the car keeps them in place.
Hope this helps.

Here's what the mounting area looks like on mine:

Almost looks like a binder clip or small u-channel with set-screws would work perfectly here.

JE Jr's is the same as what I had on mine. The instructions stated tp install the double sided tape (two long strips) then clamp on the brackets to each end of the wing.
Worked fine for two weeks, then the entire wing blew off one day on the Freeway. Not sure if I didn't get it tight enough or if there was a defect. Only one I've heard of blowing off. Just know that there is a lot of force on the wing during driving speeds.
