View Full Version : 780 Custom dash/ stripped original.. And I mean STRIPPED

Custom dashboard,
Not knowing there was a steel dash under all that foam and fake leather I was planning on building a aluminum dash.. but after stripping about 2 inches of foam from the original dash.... Tada!!! some real potential.

I will patch up all heater vent holes, climate control hole, light switch holes, and ignition hole with thin steel, same is true for the glove box location. There will be some fabrication to that hole so I can install the lap top.
Some guages will go in the climate controls old location, like the boost, air/fuel, and misc

Having cut one up to clear the downbars for my cage, I think some areas are foam all the way thru.

nice. be sure to keep us updated. what 7/9 models had this type of dash that doesn't have complete foam parts?

(sorry about intrusion, but Ian, can you read your PM please ?)

When I changed my cracked black dash in my old 740 b204gt, I found that only some parts are metalic. Like a dash 'frame', there are lots of holes, sotck filled by foam. Maybe only 780 are like that ?

Thought about that but... I think it would have blinded you on a sunny day so I decided not too...

And about the 200 dash, There mostly foam with metel molded in for support areas. It sucks I know.

But hey thanks everyone im glad your excited about this idea I'll have some updates this week.

Naw its not a DD... Just a fun.. LIGHT street machine.. she is bare bones.
