Specs: RSI 2.5L bottom end, Pacman/Erland cox 8V head, C2 camshaft with custom lobe centers

405 Whp at 16psi
448 whp at 18 psi
475 whp at 22 psi

I stopped right there, but we could have done well over 500whp and run up to 30 psi if desired. Dyno plots to come.

Bottom line, big HP pulling past 7k and and the flattest torque curve you have ever seen from 4k-7k.

8V ftmfw

OK, here are the scans.

Two things to note: 1) the motor was still making power at 7k where I chose to set the rpm limit. 2) there is a rich dip between 4500 and 5000 that would not tune out. We think there is some sort of resonance in the intake manifold at that point. I wonder what a custom intake will do?

Yeah- we are talking about a head that is doing like, 200whp NA. Doubt it is a restriction.

I would put money on it being the turbo reaching the upper right side of the compressor map. Hence the question about the turbo.

suterman

Thats an amazing price for the head considering what it can help achieve.

I wish my 8v was 405hp:)

those are sick numbers. i wanna see plots!

gotta wonder too about the system running out of efficiency. it's definitely not the head and cam

spec on Pacman heads:

"they are about 3300 dollars for a 8v 531 head with complete custom works and porting. Includes 46/38 valves, custom enem cam shaft, shim under bucket lifters, dual valve springs..."In this case I think they're 48/40s, and who knows what else... It's just REAL hard to rotate the camshaft on the head when it's not bolted down to an engine... Them lobes are HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Awesome work Peter! I feel fortunate to have seen your car in person, next on the list is to see it in action at the track.Seriously. Can. Not. Wait.
How sexy like does that 2.5 rev?Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmph. Way too sexy. I guess on the dyno it was like WHAMonce it hit the higher boost.
Unreal!

43whp gain from 16-18psi, then only 27whp from 18-22. Head starting to choke things off?8.2:1. Rpm, well, I wish he would've taken it higher, because from the looks of things it wants to pull to 7500 or maybe even higher, butttttt Peter wants to keep at least one engine together and strong for a good while, so... Same with the boost. Part of the reason for the smaller increase from the last increase in boost is because they richened it back up a bit during that jump to get back down to conservative afr's. Then there's also the completely stock intake manifold with a 59mm(if i remember correctly) MVP "big bore" throttle body.
I wish my 8v was 405hp:)
You mean 551hp?
possibly intake manifold and throttle bodyIndeed my good sir.

It sounds so sexy. And just with the way it starts up, and revs, even before making any boost, just at a stop, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those that hadn't seen a short snippet of nothing special before it was broken in and being smooth with the gas:

My quess is just exhaust pressures rising a tad closer to boost, I'd say it's normal.

Yes- that is what I am getting at. That would be primarily a function of the turbine housing. That is why I asked what turbo. ;-)

10.5 on the intake side. 11.9 on the hot side. I would say that 10.5 number isn't a detriment considering the head work and increased valve size.

klr142
07-25-2008, 09:52 AM
Yeah, custom. Haha, there's wayyyyyyyyyy too much to list as to what is custom on this thing.

Latest fun stuff is a little bit of undertray/diffuser work at the rear...

Ohlins shocks, no bushings anywhere, all solid rod ends almost everywhere. Adjustable Kaphlenke control arms up front, rear Kaphlenke subframe, coil-overs, Wilwood brakes up front, other custom bodywork/cagework strut tower "brace", stufffffffffff...
