What is the best method of removing and replacing the side trim on a later 242? Mine is cracked all over and will not stay black for more than a day. As much as I would like to shave it off completely, it has proven itself a necesity in the city. Also I've got some body work coming up soon and I need to locate an economical source to get new stuff. I would like to find the trim with the chrome accent on it, or even better the earlier thinner aluminum style trim.

Since Save-On effectively destroyed my hopes of finally having digital pics to show today  I should mention that the car has the 79-80 7 inch front end with chrome trim around it, has polished aluminum trim around the windows and the tails are painted red. It has the later style bumpers and the ubiquitous front spoiler. Wheels are Virgos with lots of brakedust on em. Windows will be tinted very, very black.

Good point, I should fill the side trim with an inert gas then. Argon maybe? :e-shrug:

So which is better? I sure do like having balls. But I do have a certain fond(le)ness for tits.

It might sound dumb, but I saw a 240 w/ side moulding from pep boys on it. it was thinner that stock and was black w/ a chrome insert. It actually looked really good. And this is coming from a guy who would shave everything off my car if I could. my $.02

That just gave me an idea. I could use the Pep Boys trim and cut a space to insert one of the 480 side markers within it. I think that would look really clean. Any thoughts?
