Pat wanted the car back, and John wanted the money the guy owed him for services rendered IIRC.
He said he left for a while and just came back? I didn't catch a name, number, anything like that. When I walked up to him I asked if that was his Volvo, and if he was a member of Tbricks. Didn't get much info, but he said it had some tranny in it that had never been put in a Volvo before, and the motor was pushing like 430 torque with the boost on rational levels on a B230 bored to 2.5. I guess the boring was John V's work?

I don't really think it is considering it has a very original looking exhaust, But you never know.

The current owner is a ****ing clown. He brought it in for service to John Lane's shop a while back and told him it's running 10's in the quarter.

Wow the new owner is a doorknob. JL never really had good things to say about him. I bet the car is still exactly how it was when Pat built it.
Freq I'm surprised that you've never heard of this car, since you've been here for a few years now.

I hope Pat gets to buy it back. This was my favorite car on the board for a loooong time.

It's public information, just have to submit a request for it at the DMV or wherever.

I took it at face value. I honestly wasn't paying a whole lot of attention since I was on my 10 minute break at work and I had walked to the QFC. He mentioned leaving for a while and that he stopped posting on Tbricks. He drove by as I was walking back to work. The turbo sounded louder than the motor, which I found to be odd for a 3" pipe. He also said that the PO was looking to buy the car back, so I guess stories check out.

Back in High School before I even found out about TB I was at a Starbucks and there was also a TB meet there randomly. This car was there, the guy was trying to get me to buy it for 5k. He seemed like an ass, hopefully it wasn't pat.

I've also heard accounts like this from Non-Volvo-Guys that come into contact with Volvo-Guys. Some Volvo guy was less than freindly....it was an OVT meet at P.I.R. a few years ago.

No it wasn't pat. I know Pat and it wasn't him. I remembering having to convince him that my wagon had an LSD, he didn't believe me until we crawled under the my car to see the stamp on the diff ended in "L" or whatever it is. I was in my white '83 245 with a topper box, bone stock.

Car never entered Oregon while I owned it (this is Pat).
I was recently offered the car for $7500. I passed due to lack of funds and the fact that it was overpriced. Had I had the money, I would have bought it regardless of price.
Car is still running k-jet, he'd be lucky to run a 13, let alone a 10.
Transmission is t5 that Ben originally adapted and the current owner just rebuilt/replaced.
JL just did a bunch of repair work to it and was paid.
As far as meeting t-bricks members, I'm nicer in person. An ass online frequently.
When I had it: http://www.tuff240.com/orange242index.htm
Few crappy vids of it here under "My old orange 242": http://www.tuff240.com/videos.htm
Saw it this morning in Lake Forest Park on Ballinger Way close to where it meets Lake City Way/522.

i know he is. ive been talking to him. he told me he put the tranny in at a cost of 2k. then he put another 8k into the engine and drivetrain since then. and hes going to upgrade the fuel injection next. should be about 12k in it. oh, then hes going to paint it black. sweet theres another 10k!
when i asked politely to explain where all the money went in the upgrades he all of the sudden got quiet. hmmm? ya..no.
