Anyone managed to successfully run an electronic boost controller off of this setup?

if so, how'd you make it work?

Thanks,
evan

I'm running it from MS1-extra.

Wired it up, set up the settings, used a GMC Typhoon solenoid.

Do you find the boost control is more stable vs using an MBC?

I'm using closed loop boost control with ms2 extra and a gm valve. I have it functional, but I haven't tuned it perfectly yet. Sometimes it spikes a few psi, but I think its just due to my settings.

On ms2extra you have to tune a PID loop, I don't think you have to do this in msextra. I just have the P set around 80, I haven't even tried setting the I or D values yet. I have an open wastegate dump so you can hear the valve modulating the wastegate at smaller throttle openings, its very cool.

I've found it to be less table than the MBC, but less prone to spiking, if that makes sense. I'm running at around 22 - 24 psi, so I was very leery of higher PSI spikes as it gets into some pretty dangerous territory (IMO, anyhow). I originally had an 8-psi actuator and the MBC turned way up, but had BIG spikes at times - going well over the target, then settling down to a very nice and steady boost right on target. Not good at all. So I put on an 18 psi actuator with the MBC turned way down, and it worked a lot better until I started to turn it up again, and the spikes came back. Not quite as bad, but still enough to make me leery of pushing it up too far.

With the EBC, I initially ran the 18 psi actuator, did a modest amount of tuning, and had a nice spike free 24 psi at WOT, with only a small amount of wavering. I recently put the 8 psi actuator back on so I had a much larger range of potential boost pressures - so I could run much lower boost at lower throttle settings and try to make the throttle a little more linear. I haven't put the time into tuning it enough yet, but it still isn't spiking, but instead of holding a steady 22-24 psi at wot it sometimes seems to hunt back and forth between 15 and 24 psi. You can definitely hear the wastegate cycling open and shut now, makes a sort of chuffling in the exhaust note at times. The MBC never did that.

I really just need to spend some more time setting it up properly. I'm trying to use the boost targets feature right now, instead of just the fixed DC table. I forget if it uses the DC table as a starting point for the boost targets or not, I suspect I just have the DC figures way off (still mostly set to suit the 18 psi actuator) and that's causing it to hunt excessively to try and hit the boost targets.
