I was thinking that I should probably get a different table for my engine, I'm using John's (The Aspirators) at the moment, but I believe he has a B21 with a completely different compression ratio. So I figured I should probably get a table for a B230F+T(my engine), and start from there.
The compression ratio for a B230F is 9.8 right?

Anyone have one I can use?

Thanks, I searched but I couldn't find maps for B230F+T's only B230FT, different compression.

look down a couple threads :)

It's very conservative in boost.

John setup is 9.5 afaik ?

Hmm, I actually couldn't remember, it is a +T isn't it... but just to be on the safe side, and instead of tuning with his spark map then having to change my VE table all over again, I figured I would start with a B230F one. Owell, 740ATLs has been working out nicely

Yeah Mike's make should probably be closer, but my engine is a B23 with 9.5:1. The closer you get the first time around the less time you have to spend figuring out why it won't drive very well. :)

I wish i could say the same. For some reason when i input his tables it sounded way off, it ran, but did not turn over very well. The more i think about it, the more i wonder if my base timing is off. I know the keyway is broken in the balancer. is there any other way to check the timing? It does run just with a whole different set of maps.

yes, lock the timing and re-set the trigger angle.

so do you have ping on boost-onset sean?

To be honest.. A little, but I'm backing off the timing a bit, seems to be working. its only in the 2500RPM and 85 to 95 ish KPA. and 740ATLs map is a little heavy advanced there, so I made my changes.

My boris knocksense is really pissing me off though... I keep having to lower the sensitivity but it still goes off above 3500RPMs, and it always goes off at 2700, theres no knock happening, its just a flutter at 2700, but no matter what if im accelerating or decelerating at 2700 it goes off, if I lower the sensitivity anymore its not going to detect any knock anyway.
I'm pretty sure my knock sensor is torqued down properly, but i will have to double check, but I'm so sick of that thing flashing in my face when I don't hear knock...

edit: I'm not bashing Knocksense, it works wonders when there is knock, i just need to figure out how to make mine work better...

do you have shielded cable for the knocksensor to the knocksenseMS?
Guess it could be signal disturbance..

Also try common ground

Just the shielded one that came with the kit... All my other wires are on the other side of the car though. Maybe Ill just flatten out the timing there and hit it again, just to be 100% sure theres no knock.

Hey man, yeah, it may be a bit advanced in the 85-95kpa range. What was your previous timing in that region, and were you pinging before? Also, are you running 93 octane?

Is there something else going on at 2700rpm? Will it go off at 2700rpm if you rev from idle?

Mike

I'm running 94 octane(good ol Sunoco), I think that timing in that area was around 38-40, at 2500 to 3000, all in the boost onset area.
When I'm in third gear and I jump right over the boost onset and go straight to boost, I don't get any knock, though I have only tuned for 3PSI or so, today Ill go for 6.

Plus I'm going to try and do an e-test today, my friend is going to let me tune my car while its on the dyno e-test machine, it should be interesting to see whats up.

I just checked my timing with a timing light and it seems to be off 5 degrees. Plus the timing is really sketchy(misses a lot), could I be due for a new coil? or possibly RPM sensor?
I'm using the stock 60-2 flywheel, set to 60 degrees in MS. Would it be my old crank pulley thats off 5 degrees from being so old?

If it's a b230, the sections have probably separated.

Yeah thats what i figured.. I was hoping my flywheel didn't shift:roll::lol: haha. what would cause the miss fire at idle? its visible I can see the timing light skip a blink and hear the misfire happen at the same time.
