SO a guys at msextra told me that there is an "unfortunate artifact of the way we've written the code at the moment" which makes it so when i crank the car it has no sync for a few seconds....anyone had this issue, do i need to reflash my MS again? Im running MSII extra 2.0.1 And no one has verified this issue, or said anything about a fix. This is driving me nuts and no one seems to have any kind of answer, thoughts??

My car takes 2 or more engine revolutions to sync because of the sequential coil on plug. You're not running a second trigger are you?

Single trigger just from the stock 2.2 dizzy.

What do you mean by 'synx XX rpms'? I swear ive been through every setting in megatune 3 times and blah blah blah etc etc etc...did i miss something?

there's a setting in ignition settings that holds sync for XX rpms. I'm not sure if that carried over to ms2 extra or not, but I seem to recall it being in there somewhere.

I dont have a trigger return / tiem based setting like i had with MS I, now what I looked in all 3 ignition menus and all the cranking settings.

On MS2/Extra, there is a "trigger return distributor" mode that can be selected under Ignition Options, and it can be problematic if the angle is not set correctly. The artifact Jim was writing about appears to be that the number of skip pulses is not adjustable.

Yes, the number of skip pulses isnt avaiable and I think thats part of the problem. As far as trigger, I have mine set to basic trigger, there was another setting trigger return, where id have to figure out the distance in degrees between teh gates or soemthing, and basic trigger has worked fine timing set no problem and the map is right on, its just the cranking. Its not syncing right away prolly due to the fact i cant change skip pulses, so what do i do?

Is MS2 B&G code an option?
volvorod85

Well, I dont know much about the B&G Code. Im using squirt and spark, with a single coil and teh 2.2 dizzy. Whats different between extra and the B&G code, will I have to install a different version of megatune?
Im also set up to do PWM Idle, i have it set only for warmup right now, as there were more issues with the code preventing me from changing to closed loop operation

If you're using just a distributor, IAC valve, and fuel control, you can run B&G code - it's only things like boost control or coil packs that require Extra code. B&G code does not do closed loop idle either. You won't have to get a different copy of MegaTune, but you will need to change some of the INI files.

So I can still use spark, I can use my PWM idle valve and teh 16x16 fuel table?

16 x 16 is only in MS2/Extra.
Yep, it's Matt from DIYAutoTune - Jerry had been tuning a MS'd 940 recently and the owner asked me to check out this forum.

Nice!.....well, I may deal with the crank issue for now then, cause i like the 16x16 table. Lets me dial in a better cruise and normal driving A/F, something thats very important to me. Im pretty bummed about the crank problem though, that reeeallly bugs me. anywho
