my car started hesitating at steady hwy speeds 60 mph
then it started putting out black smoke when i stopped.
soon it would rpm low enough to die.
i have replaced the maf sensor and cam sensor(which fell apart)
i now get 9 mpg.
right after i put the maf on i got 15 mpg but that soon vanished.
i have cranked up the idle so it wont die. the rpms will rythmicly go up and down.
i am flat broke.
the mechanic i found wants 70 hr to just go over it.
any help would be grateful.
thanks

70hr? Shop I'm at charges 95.

Have you checked the diagnostic codes? Is it giving a check engine or Lambda light? Start with the basics. New plugs, cap, rotor, wires. If you can, remove the fuel injectors and clean them in an ultrasonic cleaner. Have you checked the o2 sensors?

Check the diagnostic codes on the fuel and ignition computers, there's more than likely something they can tell you.

i will post codes tomorrow.
i have read that temp senor will cause same symtoms.
i tried unclipping the lead but it is very corroded,
i will have to give it some pliers to get them apart.
hopefully this is my problem.
i will post results.

thanks
