Old exhaust

Old exhaust was the stock NA 2" system.

New exhaust is 2.25" with a single "high flow" muffler where the resonator was and then straight pipe out the back.

I had a shop install it because I didn't want to bleed or be cold.

Sounds much better. Good job.

That sounds really damn good. How loud is it on the inside?

Too loud

It barely drowns out the engine noise...I hope nothing goes wrong that can only be detected in time by hearing it.

If I were to do it again, I'd relocate the muffler to the stock location and straight pipe where the resonator is.

The guy at the shop said that the muffler lasts longer where it is due to heat, but IMO, it's worth sacrificing muffler longevity.

Still happy with it though.

LOL good to know, I want to do something like this but I want to know how loud it is inside the car when you put the muffler in the stock position. I tend to be picky.

driving down to pullman in that first video? I did 2.5" header back with a single turbo muffler on my wagon. It sounds good, loud though.

Yeah, I'd recommend stock muffler position, I think it would be OK to delete the resonator though. Maybe get a ride with someone that has an IPD system? (Mine is similar, but instead of paying IPD markup, I paid labor and got bonus welds)

To clarify:
mine is resonator replaced with muffler, and original muffler delete.

DurSwede: The first video is out in Cheney...I was between classes and didn't feel like studying so I went to the closest thing resembling twisties in the area :(

What was that hissing noise in the video with the old exhaust? I couldn't hear anything for it.

New exhaust sounds good.

ITS A SNAKE!!!

I can't wait to do my exhaust, I was also thinkin' 2.25, but I would copy IPD though, muffler in the back, S or L tail pipe to cut some of the noise down or else I won't be able to hear it over the girlfriend's complaining...

Sounds great!

Update:
The in-cabin note has calmed down a bit, though it still barely drowns out the engine, the vibrations are very well reduced.

That hissing was the exhaust :rofl:WTF? Righto... did you get some performance gain?

The muffler I had on there was corroded inside and rattly, so I'm guessing there was a clog right there.

I believe I may have a little bit of performance gain, though I can't say for sure because it could be just because I have a new exhaust on there, size having nothing to do with it. I'd like to think I can feel a little bit more acceleration forces, but it could be psychological, now that I hear "power" at the back and front.
