I've nearly forgotten how to use the damn thing it's been so long. Anyway, here are some scans of pictures I've taken from a few photo shoots over the past few weeks.
A few shots from around the area:

I recently reverted, mostly because the PhD. digital camera is broken and I'm too cheap to buy a new one.:-D I had forgotten how much "warmer" film photography can be. Combine with editing software and the results can be pretty cool.

Well I'm sure everyone would love an old SLR, I know I would.. but by the time you do your own printing or getting developed, its just so hard to keep up with cost...
I like those shots though definitely suits the car with the grain and everything, love em!

If you're shooting as if you're using a DSLR, then, yes, it can get spendy. But, if you're doing it the old way, then, no, it's not much more expensive. I usually only get a CD made, then, if I see something I want printed, I'll have an 8x12 made. Otherwise, the photos remain on the CD and on the 'puter, as well as in their original negative form.
I'm also thinking about shooting slide film (E-6 process) then processing the film myself. It's not much different than doing B&W. Once I've a decent film scanner again, I can then scan the images myself, cutting out the photolab. That way, I'll only be paying for the film and the chemicals.
Another thing, is that film gear is very cheap at the moment, as long as you're not looking at mint condition collectible or recent gear. I currently own every professional grade film Nikon body made through the F5 (F Photomic FTn, F2A, F3P, F4s, and the aformentioned F5). The most expensive body was my Nikon F3P body, which ran me $363, including shipping from the UK. Second most was my F5 @ $275, plus tax. The cheapest body I own currently, is a black Nikomat FTn that I bought for $43.50, including shipping from upstate NY. Am about to pick up another Nikkormat body with 50mm lens, and a Nikon FG-20 parts body that also has a 50mm on it, for $25. Probably will keep the lenses, then donate the bodies to the local repair shop.

Oh, forgot to add, there have been some new emulsions that came out during the latest Photokina trade show in Germany. One of which is the reintroduction of Kodak Ektar 100. This time, it has the grain structure of the old Ektar 25, but with an ISO 100 film speed.

Ethan, I love the contrasty-ness of the photos... makes them look very old-skool, or better yet, very "artistic". Did you dodge and burn in development? (I'm assuming you shot film).
I was able to get that sort of effect when I shot color film but developed it using B&W processing. It still retained a bit of the color, but shifted toward sepia overall. I also had them burn it slightly so it had that over-contrast look to it (sort of like what you've done).
I'd love to build myself a black and white photo lab in the house. It'll give me an excuse to go back to shooting 35mm B/W film on my old Canon AE-1.

that first shot at a distance by the train tracks made me think of an old 140 owners manual or sales ad's :-D
some of the group shots are a little...high strung looking. did you turn the saturation up? if my internet ever comes back up at home (where my software is) i'm going to play with them a bit later :-P

Dodge and burn? It's a rare person today that develops C-41 film at home. I take mine to Walgreens and have them do just the negatives and a CD. Their machine cares little what ASA you shot the film at...it goes by the bar code on the cannister so it's tough to be as creative inside the camera as it used to be. Now I just take the CD and do the PS thing.
That being said...these are superbly composed shots!! I'm thinking old film and a weak exposure meter battery but the result is, indeed, a nice, very classic look. I'm just so sorry your gorgeous 144 seems to break down in the darndest places!! j/k of course....nice job!!

Remember, these are scans of the prints that I monkeyed around with using Picassa. I got the cd from the place that developed them today. I'll upload the original pictures later today so you can see what they actually turned out like.:)

Actually, it hasn't broken down yet. Kyle was "inspecting" the engine and he kept repeatedly asking me, "You wanna make this go faster?" with an evil glimmer in his eyes. The several gallons of water pouring out were from a plugged drain that Kyle released. Probably lost 10 pounds curb weight on that "mod" alone.
