^^^ find the rubber chicken
So my roommate and I decided to get off of work and head out to Orlando Speedworld to see what our **** would run. The evening was a mixture of win, with my 242 going 14.2 @ 99, and fail with the Toyota snapping an axle shaft (shifting into third!). Videos are to follow whenever youtube is back up again.
Edit: heres the video from one of my runs.

Toyota's swap. Don't worry the supercharger and replacement differential will be installed simultaneously. ;-)

Awsome nick! Yeah the Orange and the Blueberry definately need to race.
Does the car have more in it? (i.e. boost, driver mod, etc.?) -- Also I hate that the announcer didn't have anything to say when you raped that 240sx down the track... Haters.

As I understand it the boost is as low as it can go right now on an HX35 with an engine and drivetrain that can take about as high as it can go.
lol, guys, I'm just getting started...
edit; to amend what Eric was saying. I stuck a quickie homemade bleeder valve MBC on the WG a few hours before we left for the track. The only thing it really does is get rid of some of that lag caused by premature opening of the wastegate. It was shooting up to 10ish psi then by the redline it'd be at 13ish. I started getting ballsy with that bleeder valve but it did almost nothing for me. I really need to get a proper boost controller on there to make it behave properly.

regardless, changing the shackle length will monkey with the pinion angle. It can cause nasty vibes depending on how extreme the angle gets.

Thank you, sir. If you make it up for the meet, you'll have to help w/ the hood reflaming.
So apparently my car didn't make it away from the track unscathed. I drove it to work today and confirmed my suspicions that my almost new transmission mount is fubar. Hehe, poly, here I come!

Hot+++, hella fast too. Both your car and Eric's inspire me.
HX35... need... more... details! What wastegate, what manifold? How's the spoolup? When I had it on my car the only thing I could do was laugh at the spool time. However the Hy in Lee's car rocked. T5 tranny I think right? How come this beast didn't make it to SE?
http://nickflyman.com/242/242_16/DSC00009.JPG
^^^ that appears to be the solution to the HX35 boost control issues. The divided wastegate section + porting out the hole may be the definitive method to not having run away boost. The spool time is pretty bad, admittedly, but I'm a ****ing maniac behind the wheel. I spin the motor to 6500, so having boost kick in at 3500 doesn't really bother me (esp w/ the decent gear ratios in the T5). The 90+ was professionally hogged out too, so I'm sure that has something to do w/ it. I had to make a scary WG bracket to mount a T3 actuator on that turbo, but its been working out pretty well for me. I've actually been having trouble getting more boost...
Oh, and it didn't make it to SE mostly cause I was a chicken. The car hadn't had much running time yet, the tune was horrid (still not that great), and I just didn't trust it to not strand me in the sticks.
Its about time FL did something worth getting recognized for besides correcting grammar and blowing up whiteblocks.

Well be to honest... for what it is the 3800 SII is a decent engine. My mom 00 bird never game her any problems at all. but yet failed because it was the 6 and not 8
Never ran rough or bad.... only when one coil pack went bad was the only problem.

There is one sitting in the garage that will be installed while the car is down for a new rear end. What other motor do you have in mind that can do 300ft/lbs with entirely parts pulled from a u-pull-it junkyard for next to nothing? I wouldn't do a V8 unless I could do an aluminum block LS and I would have spent several times my overall project budget on just the engine.

Ahh so this is the fabled car that never made it to SE, looks sweet and good times!!!!
Did I see the beige mobile lurking in the background, will that be given some sorting out like yours has???
Front bumper is a 940 bumper trimmed to fit.
Unfortunately, the pics came out really well and you guys don't see all the little imperfections it has. 50$ paint job needs completion and theres still some work to be done as far as trim and whatnot.

IM pretty sure thats a series 1 engine because I had a series 2 in my fiero and it didn't look like that. It had plastic intake manifold.
I did not realize your 240 was red. That thing is sweet looking.
IIRC, its series II, w/ a camaro intake so the TB wont be inside the firewall. (not a GM guy)

This is correct, the RWD 3.8 Series II is what the manifolds are from. When I put the supercharger on there is no way around having the intake pointing at the firewall but I think I can improvise.
