Besides the standard abrasives guide, which should be in here to begin with ;)
Does anyone want a basic porting article, applied to volvo B230 intakes, and a cylinder head?
My references

[some on the next page so click next at the bottom].
I also did an intake manifold, which i plan to do more work on. I am not a prob by any means, but every little bit helps, as long as you watch what you are doing and take your time :badboy:
How about one on installing the airflow kit, which essentially helps when installing any body kit or ground effect on a pre 90 model? [with photos of course]
Mitsu to garrett turbo swap with photos?
Any thoughts?

I'd contribute what I can... My references aren't quite too well-documented yet, but www.pbase.com/thatcantbeavolvo/motorwork is a work-in-progress view.
I'll have more pics this weekend as I finish up the ports...
I need to ask though, how far in did you blend your ports on both sides? I've seen that a lot places start blending them pretty close to the openings.

I would be so down for an article. Got a few spare heads laying around to practice on...

I'm starting work on an 850 head right now, so maybe I can do a follow-along type deal. Give the 16V guys some things to think about :)

My 531 needs some work.... teach me master! Even if we started a list of existing porting threads and artices, that'd be cool too! What sort of dremel bits are you guys using and are they readily available at the hardware store?
What's the deal with beadblasting a head? I mean are there places that you should avoid while doing it? With the cam out, should you cover up the lower cam bearings and buckets while doing it? Eh, I'm sure the machine shop knows how, I was just curious.
Thanks,
John

www.pbase.com/turbo745ti/inbox page 3-4 has some pics.
I will do a write up after classes are done i hope, these classes this semester have me strapped for time.
I used 3 or 4 stages on the head ports.
What do you guys think of the pics?
If you still want it, i will do it.

Yeah do a porting guide, I have been practicing on a 398 that I had laying around before I start on my 405. But I would like to know a little more on what to and what not to do.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I got a little bit more info on this. If you're using glass bead or other particles, then you can just spray everything. But don't use actual sand to clean a head. I'll be blasting my 405 head here in a while, so we'll see how that goes.
And yeah, where's this porting guide? It's time to get going on mine.

Sorry guys, been working 50 hour weeks and sleeping or working all weekends. BUT, at the VERY latest, I can follow the porting of a 398 and an 850 head or two once I get up to Orlando in early August.
I could do some quasi-helpful imageless ranting now about my views of porting and the Volvo heads, but won't have many pics or anything.
