i still prefer galaxies

there's an 850 estate on galaxies atm... the rears look OK but the fronts look stupid b/c of the offset

don't get me wrong, they look good. but they look good like hydras look good: just good enough that people notice that they look good, but not good enough to really inspire romantic urges ;-)

I'm also not a huge fan of polarii. They are very sharp wheels, but they just aren't very euro looking. As far as 5 spoke OEM designs, I think comets are sweeter than polarii. IMO the 18's are too big. BBS-type mesh/basketweaves with lip are what does it for me. I drive grandpa cars though...

The car looks great with any of those wheels though. White is the new beige?

thanks guys. ya, i dont want to have sex with them either.

the 18s were a test fit. they go on the blue car.

Nordi sits on the black gems most days. I have it up in air with the getrag out to swap the centerforce sprung disc out of it. Its getting a solid hub 50/50 from clutchnet.
The polaris go on my 3rd car.

where do you get all these rimzos from?!?!:-D:-P:wtf:

they appeared in the accessory guide on 740 and 940's
yeah, in sweden a few yrs back, i copped a brochure from a bilia dealership that was (newly printed) and for 700/900.
They had the Polaris, galaxies, and a whole lotta other cool rims that we'd all go crazy for in there...

I want a set of Polaris but I really want to powdercoat them in a blue/grey like gun bluing. I think it would go well with my car being light blue.

You could put some 14" steelies on that car and it would still look good.

Exactly why I regretted selling them.

I've got them now. Though, they got super beaten up by the last owner and all four I'm going to have to just strip down, unbend the one, and refinish all four.:grrr: Maybe I'll have them at iPd next spring if I decide to keep them. I have a ferrari 308 owner trying to convince me to sell right now. I'm also not sure if they'll be a direct bolt on for my 945 or not. We'll see. I need to get it into the air, but it seems like with winter and having only a driveway there's not enough hours in the day anymore. I'm a little worried though, to be honest. I'm trying to avoid the whole adapter thing again.

i am sure it has been discussed before... but i am gonna ask. what size tires for the polaris wheels on a 242. i have a set of eikers i am almost ready to put on..... and i bought them with 235/45/17... and that seems way to big.
i was thinking 205/40 or 215/40.
what do you have on yours ?

Thanks

edit** your car is awesome. deff keep the polaris.

215 40s

firenice13035

it is deff between that and 205. the 205 is considerably cheaper.... and seems very little size diff

thank you

215 40sI like 215/45's better. Has more sidewall for less chance of bending a wheel and a little softer ride.

Can a 225 fit?
Are these 17x7 or 17x7.5?

Crazychopstick

215/45 always served me fine.

Polaris are 17x7

The softies are 7.5

GrandmaSideways
11-27-2008, 01:35 AM
I have to say, that my 945ti doesn't get enough grip as I would like in the rear with it's 205/55/r16 - I'm going to be using 215/45/17's when I put those rims on, however ideally I'd want 225/45/17

225/45 on mine ... I too like a bit of sidewall instead of just rubber bands.

I would also like to widen the track maybe .5" or even 1" on each side in the rear. On a 240 , original volvo wheels look the best ... virgo, gemini , galaxy, polaris they all fit the 240-look really well ... the only non volvo wheel I like on a 240 are Robs kodiaks ... those are just sick.

I am going to go against the flow here and say all black FTL.

You can't SEE the damn things if they're black, might as well just run steelies.

Silver or polished lip/black center on the other hand...

I dunno. I don't like silver wheels usually. Silver Polarii have lost their appeal since they've become more popular here in the States. I don't like plain silver wheels all the time. Right now I'm digging the 18"s the best out of the selection. :)
i bought them with 235/45/17... and that seems way to big.
i was thinking 205/40 or 215/40.Way too small. I've run the 235/45s before and they drove well, but there were a couple of rubbing issues. 235/40 would be better if there was enough wheel to fit them, but 7" just isn't enough. 225/45 are my choice for a regularly used car. I have 215s now, but will have 225/45-17s next time around. My speedo reads a smidge(literally) fast now, but will read a little slow with the larger tires. I will appreciate the additional rubber and comfort though.
ideally I'd want 225/45/17Then do it. 215 is barely an upgrade, especially if you don't get better tires. You could do 235/45 without as much issue on a 700/900 too.

maxman142001
11-30-2008, 02:28 PM
being that they are original POLARIS wheels, i wouldnt paint them. If they were Eikers I would. Im sure these will make it on to other Volvos at your place and the silver is a little more universal then black. Dont get me wrong, i love black rims, but these rare rims will stay pimp in silver :)

just my .02
