View Full Version : Fitting B20 oil pan to a B234?
OK, so FCP lists the oil pan gasket as being the same, so I'm figuring that the oil pans are interchangable.
What about oil pick-ups?
Thinking of trying the "mounting a B234 upright in a RHD 240" plan of attack.
I searched, but got nothing solid.

I believe you'll need the B20 oil pump as well.

Wait , for a 234 you would just need to change the pickup ,wouldn't you? There is no pump in the pan. Am I thinking crazy?
The pan will definitely bolt up though.

no, should be a correct train of thought.

no oil pump in the way. The pickup is easy adapted if needed. I dont know if the brace (just visible under windage tray, above no. 3 main bearing) could get in the way. The windage tray is not found in a B234F, this pic is from a B204FT engine.
It fits perfectly- the brace across #3 main doesn't interfere. You just have to modify the oil pick up tube to the right height/angle. My B18/20 sumped B234 is sitting upright in my 142 right now, and with a full inch of clearance between the sump and the crossmember.
Don't forget you'll need to remove the balance shafts and plug the pressure and drain holes.
