Hey guys.
Well i finally found someone with a .50 coldside but im not sure if its the one i should get or not.Im new to this turbo crap still so i just want some input before i waste $65 for it.It's off a mustang SVO and is a .50 compressor housing with i think a 42 or some crap. But i have a .63 hotside and i was wondering what would be the gain of running the .50 off the svo turbo and throwing it on this .63 hotside i have?I would think 200-275 pretty safely but you guys know more then i do.

what are you trying to do? Best bang would be to upgrade the compressor to a to4e.50 trim. That's what's on my wagon and it has plenty there to vent the block obviously.

Im just trying to figure out a useable turbo. No one sells these damn compressor housings cheaply.Everyone wants 100+ for the damn things and there a common size and most people throw em away when they upgrade.Hell i paid $65 for the .63 lol and i don't wanna spend $100+ on a $65 .63 turbo lol.

You can get a compressor housing from a Nissan V6 turbo that will work great over the Ford 60trim wheel. No need to fab flanges either. Will accept stock volvo hoses.
If its $65 and the shaft spins and the blades arent hitting the housing buy it, put it on your car, run 15psi and have fun.

In turbo talks, when there is a period in front of the number, such as .42, .48, .52, .60, etc, it is refer to a/r number. A/R number is the size of the housing. Either the compressor housing or turbine housing.
The word "trim" is refer to the size of the compressor or turbine wheel.
Several different turbos are used with turbo fords, I believe SVO uses a T3 60 trim wheel with a .60 a/r compressor housing. Keep in mind with ford compressor housing, you most likely have to buy inlet and outlet adapters. Doesn't expect those adapters to be cheap or easy to fit.

See heres the problem i have with spending $100 on this turbo i bought for $65.For the total cost i could just get a holset. If the damn prices were under $100 for a housing with the wheel and back plate then id do that. Also i know of a single turbo supra mk3 in the junk yard has a pretty big stock turbo i could snag that for $45 im sure of it ill look up the specs.

do some more searching and reading as to what people are running and are happy with. Anything other than a volvo turbo will have a different flange keep that in mind. if you want to run a holset your manifold will need to be machined flat and atthat time you will want to upgrade your exhaust manifold to a 90+ because the older ones don't flow as well. As with most things in life take what you expect to spend and double it.

My T04B kit are drop-in replacement. At most you'll have to make a bracket for the wastegate actuator, which takes about an hour and $5 of metal.
With a Holset, you will have to machine the exhaust manifold, block your coolant lines, redo the oil feed, do your oil return, modify all your intake pipings, modify your downpipe to fit the 4 inch Holset outlet, modify Holset's wastegate position, buy a weaker actuator so you can use it, .etc...
All of the above will push you over $200 or more. Yeah, you maybe be able to buy a Holset for $165, but you will definitely not able to use it until you have spent double or trouble of that $165.
CT26 is the turbo used on MKIII supra. It is unique to itself, and you can't unbolt it's cold side to put on your turbo.

Sorry for the threadjack, but harry did you remember my turbo ? Is it a T04B .50 trim or a T04E .50 trim ? I might want to upgrade the coldside next summer.

T3 .52 compressor housing, T3 55 trim compressor wheel, and backplate.
For you, one time offer of $70 shipped. Good for around 270-290 hp.
I recommend balance the turbo first, but you can take your chances.
