How much do you think it would cost to get polaris rims widened to around like this:

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMzU0OTMxNnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D.jpg

seriously! im not talking about the cost it would be to get a narrow rear axle and all the other problems that would go along with that... just were and how much would the rims be? assuming i could get a set of polaris rims for say... 1500? i dunno... just came across this pic and got to wondering... later,

I got a $600 quote to widen the rear wheel on my Suzuki GS500, which I thought was high. I've never looked into widening automotive wheels. Usually they want to make two wheels into one, so theoretically depending on how they do it, you may need 8 polaris wheels to get it done right.

holy ****... thats a scary thought! lol... whatever works, though! :)

I think that is alittle too much lip myself. I would have about 5 inches max.

if you look closely i think you'll find that the the axle isn't narrowed. looks like the arches is sneakly flared from the the front of the rear door.

i read about that car in a swedish car magazine, i think it says it was widen 13cm (about 5 inch?) on both sides, and the rims are 12" wide

yeah they're 17x9 front and 17x11 rear... im guessing from the looks of it they were widened on the outside lip only. Heres the Bilsport article on that car:

looks good, apart from the fact he'd need bitch slapping into putting the proper size tyres on, that stretched tyre look so ghay, i mean whats the point in having an 11" rim if ya gonna stick a 245 tyre on it.

04-15-2004, 11:47 AM
i dunno other than that its sickness in my book! i would do that in a heartbeat if i had the resources... someday! ;-)

and it looks like maybe he did widen the whole back end a bit, but it doesnt look like 4 inches.... im still lost on how he got it to fit under the fender, unless it really is THAT sneaky! :)

Nicely done, also the car is lowered to what I think is just right.

MikeHardy
04-15-2004, 12:00 PM
oh yeah fair doo's i'm not saying i don't like it. in fact i do. but i think it would look better with some 235's on the front and 285's on the back

They are, if i remember the figure 140-200. I called the shop about adding a lip to my Borbets last week, and they told me about 180 a rim [price changes on who wants to actually do it apparently haha].

$600 is insane.

I think that is too much lip, 3-4" sure, but some on....although, it is nicely done.

That car looks awesome, but it doesn't look like it has the power to back up that look. (but I might be mistaken)

That car seems to have an aweful lot of groupA stuff on it.

I guess it would help if I could read swedish.

i'd hazard a guess at.

Group-A head with 44-35mm valves
Group-A camshaft
Group-A vevstaker (no idea)
Group-A turbo (obvious)
3" exhaust system

you serious? go look at the pic on pg1 from the back... the fender has like a 4" gap between the lip and the spare tire well thing. You can also tell from the door picture... those rear doors have like 2" added to their width

I highly doubt those are like 245, more like 265 and up, I've seen 12" rims on 295 and its stretching it like butt crazy.

MikeHardy
04-15-2004, 04:31 PM
ahh but you see ever to be so anal'ly accurate the spec list says there 215/40 17 Front and 245/35 17 rear.

ah my bad, should've read the article first.

he's stretching the ****er like no tomorrow then! and I thought the 240sx w/12" rims on 295 were nuts!

MikeHardy
04-15-2004, 04:39 PM
yeah 215 on 9" rim and 245 on 11"'s

mikep
04-15-2004, 06:55 PM
That rear tire is meant for a maximum 9.5" rim.

I saw a lowrider with 175-50-13s on 7" wire wheels once. Very appropriate for a beige Ranger that rode like a pogo stick.

I bet it has the power to back it up, probably upwards of 250-300hp. Notice little details, the 8 K-jet fuel lines from a V8 injector...
Group-A turbo was something like a T3/T4 I think.
What kind of bottom end do those have? I see the later b230-style valve cover on it, and a later style intake, but it has the Group-A head. Group-A intercooler and those lines, I bet she's cool flowing in. With the 1031 and the M90 I'm sure she can throw it down to the ground too.

You sure its a group A intercooler? All the group A intercooler pics I have seen have a different bend on the left side of the intercooler as you are facing the car.

Grp A IC had a more centered outlet on the end tank. Not at the top, like that stock looking IC.

MikeHardy
04-16-2004, 05:15 AM
might be stock. might be the early all metal B23ET one too.

i spoke to pace and they'll do one to our measure ments for £295 which is a bit of a bargain really

That car is totally awesome. I've seen a few parking lot pictures of it before like the one posted above, but I'd never seen the article! Thanks Dana.

OK, how do those k-jet lines look any different than normal ones? Anyone else notice that gauge in the engine bay next to the IC? Also I was wondering what was up with that small brake booster, but then I realized it was a '75 244 (I think anyways) so that's probably stock.

Definalty a swedish car.

it's got 8 k-jet lines. prob from a Merc fuel distributor unit.

The Aspirator

My brothers 242t has 7 lines. 4 for the injectors, one for the cold start and two going down to the control pressure regulator. To me, those injector lines and fuel distributor look stock, but I really don't know much about k-jet.

so be it.

but pat did do a 13.9 on factory K-jet. with less extreme mods then that motors got if i'm correct

I found a set of "Fake" Polaris with used tyres at http://www2.blocket.se/view/2393082.htm?l=0&c=1&city=0
for 7000SEK
A real set for 8000SEK.
Another set for 6500SEK
And another add,two rims for 2500SEK

7500SEK = $1000

Looks pretty nice!!!

But these are copys from Norway (I think...)

MikeHardy

not bad £500. that better include some nice properly sized (not streched over the rim) tyres

That is a stock fuel dist and a stock ic. Y'all should know better. ;)

Big giveaway on the fuel dist is that it's updraft. All mercedes dists are downdraft of course since they sit on the manifold. I'd assume the 928 one is the same...

Those fender flares are just ace. I've always wondered how much of it is mud...
