Judging by the wheels,and door handles I am gonna say a 75 with an early front end.

Volvo is said to have produced only a single 165 estate car (with a long wheelbase), pictured below. This car may have been given to designer Jan Wilsgaard on his retirement from Volvo.

It would be nothing to make one of those clipped with a 245. But it would be sexy if it was shorter i.e. normal length.

That's a Transfer with a 164 front end on it. They were built in 1978 ish, with a B21A engine.

I know of and have seen the 165 wagon built by Volvo Aus with the chassis number 165 0001.....

That seems improbable. Jan Wilsgaard didn't retire until 1990 and the stretched 165 appears to be an amalgam of a 1978 245 Transfer and an early pre 1972 facelift 164 nose
